I think you're right. Even if you did manage to attract some decent, smart, impressive people into the political world....the disillusionment and exhaustion comes quickly. And I think that two fold now....before it was just the internals of the system and the ability to get things done in a...

The difference is a 'professional' landlord is solely concerned with yield. Capital gains is a bonus. The issue with you're 'better investing your money point' is you're not investing 'your' money (beyond deposit), you're looking to gain by leveraging someone else's money. You don't have that...

Think you've missed a £ sign off that figure. £77.5m don't sound much for 3 months of property lending tbh.

Exactly. The government are between a rock and a hard place. They're skint as well...so get played by the wealthy. Follow the money. The overall UK property landscape needs a remix, but it's gonna take a strong minded human to implement that. And in political circles that's rare as hens teeth.

I thought it was around 30% or are you including buy to let and commercial mortgages in that percentage?

Much like Mutley is doing...the mini private landlords have been squeezed out by policy or interest rates. I know 4 people who are selling up personally...so I don't doubt there are thousands doing the same. But the market isn't crashing from over supply. It's stalling/stagnating for sure. It's...

Yep it's a massive shift in the ownership breakdown of letting/renting market. Intentional? Who knows?. Buy to let for amateur landlords was another investment vehicle to make the middle classes feel that little bit richer and that they might just be getting ahead. Of course, it should be all...

Well he can only make an assumption via something that he actually hears and sees. Any other approach would be fabrication and silly. I think it's called.....taking people as you find them.

They've probably just gone down the usual ask for more than you know they'll permit route then scale back to get it over the line...And all you've done is get what you really wanted in the first place ie the bungalow
