Contingency planning : we've found our guy

Sounds a lot like managing to me

Contingency planning : we've found our guy

I was responding to the question of Ange next season. That recruitment etc is second to him modifying the tactical setup.

Contingency planning : we've found our guy

For me all those come behind being set up properly tactically, and playing a system suited to the league. The things you've mentioned will only support a modified style of football. Without that as the jumping off point I don't see any progression for our league form.

    Ange departs

Don't think better players are the priority. It's like people saying a #6 will change our fortunes. What is needed is better tactics and setup to get the best out of what we have and bring in. I'd be more interested in backing him with better coaches.

    Ange departs

I sat next to a woman who flies over from Florida to watch us. Flights, accomodation and she sits in hospitality. There was another couple on their honeymoon, first time in England, the guy had convinced his wife to go watch Spurs as part of thier trip. Certainly meant something to them.

    Ange departs

I like how he defends us, but at the same time I'm not a fan of how he talks us down like we were some perennial strugglers before he came. Yeah the season before we finished 8th but what about before that? Sometime them quotes are padded with cherry picked stats.

OMT: European Champions v Brighton - Sunday 25 May

Well then I think regardless if people think he should go or not, this mindset will go a long way to unifying the fans. Accept he's staying, give him the first few games and then judge with no qualifiers, or mitigations. Either performances turn around (and I would say performances rather than...

    Ange departs

I accept that he'll stay and be given the chance to change the course of the ship. I hope things improve. I don't accept writing off the Brighton game as an outlier of our league performances, or the reasoning that we were concentrating on the cups (outside of rotation) as why we're tactically...

    Ange departs

Do you think it's in our top 3 worst performances of 2025?

    Ange departs

The rotation isn't as much as an issue as the tactics. We play and concede regardless of the personel. The thing about yesterday is that it wasn't a drop off in levels from normal, it was the normal. So if days of partying, drinking and lack of sleep has no effect on performance, that points to...

    Ange departs

"But it’s not a desperation around just winning something, because I just don’t think that gets you a sustainable opportunity to be successful. The foundation is just to play the game a certain way, which I believe brings success but also excites the punters."...

OMT: European Champions v Brighton - Sunday 25 May

And this is where I'm at. I expect to see a well drilled through the thirds team. Attacking but pragmatic. I don't expect to see half the team on life support, us give up the same attacking chances we have done for 18 months now and so on. Come August there shouldn't be any ifs or buts when...

OMT: European Champions v Brighton - Sunday 25 May

I imagine that he will stay based on the cup win So I think it's important that after a settled summer, no internationals a full preseason etc that there is some form of, 'ok you're bread and butter dau job needs to improve and those factors which may have been mitigating previously can't be...

OMT: European Champions v Brighton - Sunday 25 May

This is why I've asked (and not seen a response) about what Ange will be judged on next season. If we are in Europe and have a load of injuries and struggling in the league, will it be a repeat of this year where people will say he can't be judged cause of the injuries and Europe etc. Or will...

Contingency planning : we've found our guy

If he stays and we have a spate of injuries. Is it the case again that people will say there a mitigating factors for if we're stuggling? Will Europe be used to say we were focusing on that instead of something else. Like I said in the match thread. Next season with a nice rest, what will...
