    Ange departs

That's a strawman. Jordinho is just saying we could have set up differently e.g. sit deep and counter. Not keep playing the bizarrely open style which only prime Barca can manage.

    Squad

I just looked if Van de Ven is playing for the Oranje. Nope. So I checked if Danso is playing? Nope. Lienhart of Freiburg and Mwene of Mainz. I don't think either of those won the Europa League this year. There are a LOT of players in this world, eh? Vlad Chiriches is playing in the game...

    Ange departs

Steady there; Ange is a good man, a great motivator, but a poor tactician. His Tottenham was getting worse and worse.

    ENIC

I guess it might be like overpaying a repayment mortgage; different penalty %s based on how many years left. People do say quite often that the manager gets completely paid up i.e. all basic salary for all remaining months, but I don't know if that is true or why that has to be true; surely...

    ENIC

Is it true that ENIC waited until the day Ange's contract rolled into year 3, to sack him, so that the payout would be less? It would make sense e.g. if announcing it two days before would mean a larger payout, it is right that they waited. Just wondering, no daggers. I would be annoyed if...

Contingency planning : we've found our guy

That's because I voted for Silva 6 months ago, and changed my vote to Frank an hour ago.

Contingency planning : we've found our guy

This site says Frank used 4231 last season 23 times. But as we all know, it isn't so much the 'starting positions on paper' that matter, it is what you do during the match. I'd say Ange would start kinda 433 but more 4123 i.e. only one midfielder sitting... and then he would push his full backs...

Contingency planning : we've found our guy

It's more than a year old, but this may be interesting. Or not, since I'm sure things change every year. https://the-footballanalyst.com/thomas-frank-brentford-tactical-analysis/#:~:text=From%20the%20goal%2Dkicks%2C%20Brentford,strikers%20with%20a%20long%20ball.

    Squad

Don't mind me. Just thinking aloud with first squadders* and (backups) in brackets and ((secondary backups)). *I was gonna say first teamers but some prick would say I listed 16 men or something, so I just mean players expecting regular first team appearances...

    Ange departs

That's a good point, I imagine Arse fans were hoping we would stick with Ange next year and that our nosediving PPG continued down below 1PPG! Likewise I was hoping Arse would sack Emery as I could see he was a real talent. And I'm hoping they sack Arteta and start again from scratch, as surely...

Contingency planning : we've found our guy

I guess when fans say Frank's Brentford football isn't "good" they mean it isn't lots of pretty triangles and jinking runs and craziness, it is a more pragmatic system of "if you are in a position to cross it into the forwards, do so, rather than fannying around and bottling it and coming back...

    Ange departs

Riddle me this guys. The Premier League has been running for 32 years. That is 20 teams x 32 = 640 times a manager has started a season. Oh and I think 3 years where the were 22 teams, so for the massive pedants amongst you, 646 or thereabouts. Of those 646 manager/ season starts... sometimes...

Contingency planning : we've found our guy

One good thing, if it is someone from the Prem like Frank, he should know already the flaws in our players i.e. Son can't fight for the ball, Johnson can't dribble past anyone, etc. and thus can set us up in a way that better suits the players.

    Pedro Porro

Wow, Cherki completely turned the game around. 5-4. What a debut.

    Pedro Porro

True, but fresh legs vs "90 minutes after a season of the most minutes of anyone under Angelos Postecoglu system"

    Pedro Porro

Wow, Cherki is also HIM. On debut. What a hit.

Porro assist for Yamal, 5-1. Just a touch inside, into his path. Yamal really is HIM. Scary talent.

    Transfer thread

If Man Utd had a brilliant financial situation this year and had won the Europa Final, and thus won ~£100m, and had managed to sell Rashford and Sancho and Fernandes, and then immediately signed Cunha and tried to sign Mbeumo, whilst we sit on our thumbs, everything would make sense. But, but...
