Interesting as I thought his "% Comp" rate was considerably lower than that last season. Unsurprisingly the "Total Crosses" number is more than double anyone but Kayode (do his throw-ins count?

Spamming crosses without a plan to load the box is unbelievable, regardless of how good your 1 CF on the field is in the air. Double up when you realize Kudus had the exact same orders

kudus didn't get much help from porro when double marked.
spence does more with runs behind the attackers to attract players or getting into attacking spaces himself. the WC was a great example for porro to follow next season.

Maybe Porro was given orders not to make runs ahead of Kudus so that Kudus wouldn't be responsible for tracking back in case of a break against us? The same when playing with Yamal for Spain.
Frank's tactic was
- Bang the ball up to Kudus regardless of how many people were around him or if he had space
- Kudus would try to take his man on, gain space, then spam cross
- If he couldn't get past, pass the ball back to Porro
- Porro then spam cross into box
So, yes, I think him not making runs past Kudus was orders, additionally Frank didn't believe in shots from zone 14 (a strength of Porro, and one of the value options of his late runs)

perhaps, thats why he's gone now because that's the best outcome when facing an excellent winger - double team and hope they spam crosses in.
it didn't work for frank and porro's hundreds of crosses into the box didn't give the overall goals we needed. And porro has been an evergreen doing that under ange and frank.
i can see why gakpo is needed to invert and shoot.
Which you should counter by loading the box with other players, which either stops the double team or gives you better odds on connecting with the crosses.
Gapko is needed because RDZ's wingers switch between staying wide of running into the diagonal space created when his #9 drops deeper pulling defenders. It's something both Tel and Gapko are good at, Gapko being better (so far) at scoring from that cut in and shoot.
