Luka Vuskovic

I really don't believe as a club we can surely be giving any thought to selling him at this stage. We signed one of the most highly rated young centre backs out there, he has shown his qualities straight away on loan and after a successful season in the Bundesliga we decide to cash in on him? It doesn't make sense.

If De Zerbi doesn't feel he is ready to compete for a starting spot then a loan to a Premier League side is surely the next step for him. The main issue is game time as we are not in European competition so for next season get him a loan where he is going to continue to play week in week out and let him develop with the aim of possibly integrating the season after. If we sign the Brighton player and they are interested then attempt negotiate a loan with them or maybe look to arrange something with a promoted side. Ipswich probably would have been a good shout but with Mckenna resigning that problem makes that more complicated.

My word. If we sell Vuskovic, our entire sporting staff need to be shot!
But I bet we'll sell the best young CB in Europe, who's got 4 years left of his contract, for 35m, and then sign Van Hecke, who's half the player, is 26 and got 1 year left, for 70m.
They just are that stupid.
Half the player? Give it a rest. Our supporters have really overhyped this kid. If he is the next Maldini like everyone thinks, he would be going to somewhere better than Brighton.

So we want to sell him or keep him. Right. 🧐

Selling him would have course be madness on a different level. And why would we, when he's so highly rated, proven on a very high level, and still has four years remaining on his contract?

A loan would be sensible.

I fancy us to win, lose or draw this weekend.

There’s not a chance in hell he’s going to Brighton for £30m this summer.

If for some reason the club feel like cashing in is the right choice, it will be for a higher fee and Bayern will match it.

Brighton on loan for a year to bring the van Hecke deal closer? That could work

The Athletic article that reported the link is vague - “The 19-year-old knows of Brighton head coach Fabian Hurzeler from Germany — having spent the season on loan at Hamburg”
So Vuskovic is capable of googling because he was on loan at Hamburg

There are other reports he’s agreed terms though….

This could all be an attempt from Brighton to show what it’s like to have a buying club undervalue a selling club’s player. Prove a point with the JVH negotiations. Also there’s no reports suggesting we are going to agree to this bid.

That said if there’s a team to go to where you know good performances will get you a move to a big club then Brighton are that. They’ve no notions above being that as a club

He has got a lot to prove before anyone makes such a ridiculous claim. Cubarsi is miles ahead of him right now.

He's in the top 3-5 rated young CBs in the world at a minimum, Bayern, Barca, Dortmund, have all supposedly show interest.

It would be utter stupidity to sell him to Brighton (sorry, he isn't dreaming of a room to Brighton, he couldn't fudging find it on a map). And giving them cash in a swap for a mid tier defender is madness. We all know Brighton will sell the kid for 100M in 2 years.

Only things that make sense
- It's a loan deal, maybe even with a 2 year option
- Or we sell with a 50% sell on clause
- It's Brighton fudging around with us

Other than that .. really I would question the sanity of all parties

And the second point would fit in with my feeling that Vuskovic and his 'team' only see Spurs as a stepping stone to bigger things especially since his performance last season. So even a season as backup CB at Spurs won't help him, he needs to be first choice for somebody at a reasonable level. Another good season will then see the really big clubs taking interest. A season in the PL with Brighton would be ideal.

Even if Spurs are prepared to offer him a starting spot alongside VDV (and presumably not buy Van Hecke) do they want to build a defence around a potentially great player but one who could be looking to move on as early as this time next year? If they don't then maybe they have to make a decision about his future now.

I wouldn't disagree, but Spurs has a much bigger profile (especially for a Croat) than Brighton.

The money being quoted is something European clubs (even Dortmund) could match, it's just a weird story unless as I said above there is something way more to it

Hes very talented, I've watched him 4 or 5 times. But no one on here has seen that much of him live, let's not pretend anyone is watching Hamburg every weekend. People have mostly seen some YouTube clips, links to Bayern Munich and decided he's the best centre back we have had in decades - it's utterly ridiculous.

He has a decent chance to go to the very top, but he's a lot to learn before that stage and hasn't faced anything like the tests he will face in the Premier League. So let's see how he fares for a while in this league first, this league is unforgiving and levels above the Bundesliga....

I.e he's watched us play over the past 3 years, knows what a brick show we are, and has greater ambitions

My point is that any team (or almost any team) in the PL has a high enough profile that someone performing very well could attract the attention of the top team is Europe. Brighton is one of those teams and as @clownfoot says, have a record of being prepared to sell their best players. Brighton, Dortmund or most other teams in the German, Spanish, Italian or English top divisions (even Tottenham), I don't think Vuskovic will care much as long as he is playing regularly and can attract the attention of the bigger teams as soon as possible

Yeah okay it might well be that. He's outgrown us without ever playing for us and there's nothing we can do except work out the best time to cash in.

Strange considering we were losing him to Bayern Munich a few months/pages ago!:tearsofjoy:

If there’s any legs in this then it will be about a loan as part of the Van Hecke deal, not as a sale… but then under the “new regime” I guess you never know, Vinai’s decisions or lack of them since arriving this time last year are dreadful

Everyone seems to forget that he would get European football at Brighton, albeit the Europa Conference, but great experience nonetheless.

But this does sound like a load of hot, steaming bs from the clickbait merchants.
