***Tottenham Hotspur vs Chelsea***, Premier League, Nov 1st 2025 at White Hart Lane

We did indeed finish 17th last season but we did that while winning the Europa League and sacrificed league position to do so.
Let me just call this as gonads. We weren’t a CL side last season - but for our participation in the EL 😂 come on man!
No I don’t expect us to go out and roll Chelsea over playing expansive football. However, unlike you, I do expect us to actually go out and try to win instead of setting up,a team with zero attacking threat.

After the 2-4 loss under Ange I was proud. We played some great football and carried on trying to win even with 10 and then 9 players. Today we didn’t try to win with 11 v 11. Pathetic, negative, long ball, anti football, where we couldn’t fashion a single decent chance in 90 minutes, even despite being a goal behind for 60 minutes.

No patience. Give me everything today. Where is the solidarity? The fuk em all support of our inexperienced side and new manager?????

I have no idea what your first sentence means? Did I misremember us winning the Europa League?

In what way is our side inexperienced? How much less experienced is it than Chelsea’s team today? If the manager doesn’t start actually trying to attack then he won’t get support (and nor should he).

You don't need a transfer window to come up with an attacking structure and a way of playing that is better, more effective and more pleasing to the eye than what we're currently being served.
Can we be more open without sacrificing or defence entirely. I'm not sure we have the quality to successfully play a balanced attacking and defending team.

We certainly will be with fans who seem to be chucking it in after 15 games. It’s laughable.

Yes, it was grim tonight - but it is such early days. And we are 4th, not 17th.

Nobody's chucking it in. Nobody's calling for his head. What I personally hope is that he can grow quickly into the job and progress. My fear is that this club, and all it's issues and pressures, might be too big for a personality like his. He is a great guy, that is beyond doubt. He is also a smart coach, obviously. But this is a massive step-up. You don't get the time you might at Brentford. We shall see, and as you said, we are 4th not 17th (albeit truth be told that 4th is not reflective of much).

BTW, and excuse the cheek, given that you gave an 'Ange nod' (17th), on November 4th last season we were 7th on 16 points. Granted, it isn't 17 points, but hey-ho, let's see where the season goes.

For the record, on principle alone I absolutely believe the least Thomas Frank deserves is this season. If we believe in what he is doing, next season too.

I am not a fan of this particular style of football and I am hoping that when we get our injured players back, TF shows he isn't too. Let's see and hope...

I will admit that I didn't particularly see the hype when Bissouma played for Brighton; people told me he was GHod and I wanted to believe them.

I will admit that I didn't particularly see the hype when Caiceido played for Brighton; people told me he was GHod and I didn't know what to believe.

I will admit that I didn't particularly see the hype when Enzo Fernandez joined Cheatski, he looked brick to be frank, but now is not.

We have suffered with 18 year olds and 19 year olds and 20 year olds and always hoping they will blossom and we will be good, but Fark me, we were wet paper tonight.

Must be nice to have a pair of CMF who are above average at progressing the ball upfield…

Refinement.

Almost like fans think Frank wants us to lose the ball. Of course he doesn’t. He’s trying to fix things step by step. But the expectation is off the scale.

We miss Maddison and Kulu who can put their foot on the ball. The chavs put us under pressure and we had no answer rarely able to get around their press. They worked hard and closed us down and we played at Saudi Sportswashing Machine a coup of days ago.

But imagine being a player trying to play infron of our fans who have no patience or support for a team that need to gel and find form…

I don’t think Madders or Deki or more refinement would have made a difference today. Xavi is a talented player who can play the Madders role. Kudus is a talented player who can offer a threat like Deki does.

I think the reason we had no answer to their pressure was because in possession, we’d pass back to the CBs who would lump it long, or we’d try and play it around the sides where it’s easy to trap, especially with a right footed full back on the left.

There were no options and no intent. I don’t know how you refine it, because the intent just isn’t there. Maybe it’s win more flick ons? Maybe it’s routinely beat full backs on the opposition who are excellent 1 v1 defenders on the dribble and get more crosses in? Or maybe it’s get a goal from a set piece. I have no idea how what we saw today could be more refined.

How are they meant to get into the game when we have ONE way of attacking (sorry, two, hoof it or horseshoe it)?
I don't know tbh but I don't think the quality of the attackers helps. I largely think the lack of passing quality in midfield is a big problem. Again under Ange we bypassed this by playing a very short passing game that moved the entire team into the opposition half at which point we could overwhelm opposition defences but with the very obvious risks involved. I think any coach that doesn't play so suicidally will come across the problems we are experiencing right due to the lack of player quality. See for me none of this is surprising or alarming, it's what I would expect from the makeup of this squad when played in a less suicidal manner imo.

First sentence was calling our bull 🐂 You suggested the EL somehow made us a worse side. Which was total 🐂
In what way is our side inexperienced?
If you can’t discern this for yourself I’m no help.

Well their manger has been in post for more than a year.

I love how everything is our fans fault. Like we’re imagining the crap football that’s being served up. Almost feels like we are the only fanbase in world football that gets fidgety and unsettled and everyone else claps their team off after a lacklustre defeat. I think the fans and atmosphere was better at the old ground but I think that’s mainly because we were competing whereas we’ve largely gone backwards in terms of league position since the move.

Our fans being bad can be disconnected from the performances on the pitch. I never got why everyone else hates us as I don't think we're that full of ourselves, but we are a miserable, moany bunch.

Are you familar with dialectics?

Let me offer an example.

Thomas Frank deserves the respect and time of at least one full season in the Spurs job, and his current style of play is terrible to watch and endure.

Two truths. They can exist. Here's another.

Spurs won their first trophy in 41 years last season, and the manager had to go because his time with the club had expired.

It is possible for two opinions to share 'truth' space...

I agree with a lot here.

How can you say more refinement wouldn’t have made a difference! It’s like saying us being better wouldn’t have helped 🤪
No is, could become. 22. New country. New league. A little bit light weight. Certainly no substitute for a 29 year old with bags of experience. How was Maddison at 22?

Why? Why did we do this? Because we lacked players able to turn with the ball. And those that might are not in a flow and confident.

It takes time to refine and develop a side. There are structural problems. We need to improve midfield and attack. Our attack is all new, and has no consistency. Hopefully Kudus and Muani can be a foundation to build off now. But idk who with - and neither does Frank yet.

I think Frank should try to solidify Sarr in there. I think he could work well with Kudus and Muani. We need a steady team that can gel. And we need to build.

I am. But it’s like you’ve forgotten about the other half yourself.

And there’s an entitlement to modern football. No patience to see a team develop or to back them when they are down and need confidence.

Our fans being bad can be disconnected from the performances on the pitch. I never got why everyone else hates us as I don't think we're that full of ourselves, but we are a miserable, moany bunch.

We’re no worse than Arsenal, Chelsea or West Ham fans. Chelsea fans never like their manager and constantly moan about them because they got used to Abramovich canning them the moment things got a little sticky. Arsenal fans are notorious for leaving early and being quiet, they’re just winning every week at the moment and the fanbase are united. West Ham are famous for picking on their own players.

Man United and Liverpool fans in general are a more patient bunch. I felt our fans were remarkably patient last season considering the league position. It’s only Levy that was getting the brunt of the frustration but he has been at the club more than 20 years and some fans wanted a change.

Can hardly blame fans for getting a bit antsy when our home record over the past 12 months is this atrocious:

Won 3
Drawn 4
Lost 12
For 26
Against 36

You clearly don't?
I offered 'the other half' of the dialectic in the example I gave you. Here it is again, just in case you missed it. I even bold-faced the half you accused me of missing.

Thomas Frank deserves the respect and time of at least one full season in the Spurs job, and his current style of play is terrible to watch and endure.

You are conflating issues to arrive at a conclusion that anyone saying they thought tonight was awful and asking questions of how the manager sets us up to create is lacking in patience or support.

I am 58. The only thing I have EVER felt 'entitled' to as a Tottenham Hotspur supporter, is seeing us play with some style and attacking flair. In the case of this season, I'd happily bear several months of this stuff IF it is in the longer-term cause of getting solid at the back and developing as an attacking side. I still hope that is going to be the case, despite evidence to the contrary.
