For me the only thing worse than going to Arsenal away is not going to Arsenal away. I must have been there and to Highbury 30 odd times. I actually prefer away games to home games. Like last season I’ll probably end up going to more away games than home games.

Away games in general yes, I love going to them. Just not Arsenal away.
 
My first ever away game was the 81 semi final replay at Highbury. That’s probably why Arsenal away is my favourite game

My first ever away game was at Highbury with my Dad, who managed to take us into the North Bank end (he used to go with his brother in law, a gooner, every other week, as was the way back then) and I remember the bloke on the turnstile saying I was brave because I was wearing a Spurs scarf.

My first ever time being “searched “ (patted down) at a game was at Highbury - I remember being in the queue and every bloke in front of me was getting patted down and I could see one WPC who had nothing to do so I knew she would target me. Bizarre memories.

Also recall a game where it kicked off and as I was running down the terraces to get away from the agro a Spurs fan running up to the trouble actually stopped and said to his mate “get her, she’s a gooner”. His mate saw my scarf under my coat so I was deemed OK, but a bit scary at the time that me as a girl would be targeted by one of our own fans.

None of that would stop me going...just that ko time is a bit of a pig with travel home. Plus I was half eyeing this one to take my daughter to but would have to hotel it and make it into a Weekender...and with a 13 year old, the old pound note part would definitely come into it :)

Yes, sorry I didn’t mean those specifically for you pal. The time is a valid reason, as well as the above. Tonight might help convince a few! :-)
