Players don’t make their runs anymore
It’s almost about simplifying everything to do just that
Make runs and gamble
The run makes the pass, is what my old coach used to say.

If no one expects the ball to come, those runs quickly dry up, so we have to re-learn this part of our game I think. There should be no hesitation with the odd speculative pass every now and then. It keeps the opposition guessing.

Turn the defender
They hate it…

“Speculative pass” could be Romero’s middle name.

Frank looked more than happy with him during their sub off chat. The run ins behind the defence was most likely asked for and instructed before the game, and guess nothing please a manager more than a player that listens and executes with success.

Stronger and more confident now, he can become one hell of a player for us this season. Was excellent yesterday, has that drive, the ability to get past a man and always threat whoever he comes up against - either he glides past himself or he opens it up for someone else. None of our other midfielders can really do this (perhaps except Xavi). Really excited for him!

Other than age/experience-related issues that we could see naturally resolved, what are the weaknesses and deficiencies in his game?
I'm struggling to really pinpoint something.
