Jamie Donley

I will be playing particular attention to him in preseason. What I have seen of him for Orient I have really liked.

I know it is the first division and there is a big gap, but it is up to him to make that leap. I believe in Thomas Frank we have a coach that both develops and gives young players a chance. So Donley needs to bring his 'A' game. It is not for fans to say he is not ready, it is for Jamie to prove that he is. And that goes to all of our young players.

Will be quite a group of young players looking to impress this summer. Will be interesting to see if any of them can impress enough for Frank to see them as ready for the first team squad.

More difficult with CL football than EL football. Think EL football was really useful for Gray and Bergvall in particular, but Moore too got useful minutes in the group stages.

The standard this season is higher. Have to be seen as PL ready for it to make sense to stay rather than go out on loan.

Anything in particular about Donley that makes him stand out in that group as one to keep an eye on?

He is another season long loan away from it IMO

Donley looks physically ready to me from the handful of Orient games I saw last season. He's really good playing in that pivot/#10 position, holding off big defenders coming in from behind and finding runners in the channels. He's also left footed, which is something almost unique in our squad. The player he reminds me of more than anyone is Teddy.

Re the CL point - there's actually a lot of crap teams in that. Other than the other 11 super league clubs mostly being in the CL, the rest can sometimes be much of a muchness with the EL sides.

At youth level he showed great awareness of teammates position and space on field, he looked like he knew what he was going to do with the ball before he got it. Hes not quick but he thinks and acts quickly.
