Pape Matar Sarr

A brilliant performance from our Sarr Mannnnn

Great drive and pressing in midfield

Cuts out the pass from Ratface, drives upfield whilst kinda dawdling and hoping Richie will make a run, but he won't, so Sarr passes

Bentancur makes the run

Sarr gets the ball and delivers a brilliant cross, which causes the goal. Epic

I’m expecting big things from Sarr this season.
Got the assist in the UEFA Cup Final.
Was charging around elbowing and shoving and pressing United and using his physicality well.
I think Frank will love that.
Already training himself

Most footballers do have an exercise regime while on holiday. So they are not coming back totally out of shape.
Stevie nichol told a story about when he was at liverpool. Week before preseason training starts he was in a shopping centre and there was a weighing scale. He'd been given an ideal weight to come back as. When he weighed himself he was shocked to see he was a stone overweight.
His wife just said to him - put the shopping down you idiot.

Big season for him - probably needs to step up a bit or risk being consigned to being a squad player.
Agreed. I think a lot of that will depend on how Frank sets us up most of the time.

In the right setup with the right players around him to compensate for his shortcomings and allowing him to use his strengths I definitely think he has it in him to be a really good player.

But he needs the right setup around him, more so than some other players. That will probably always be true.

Great story!

I agree with your point and particularly in the modern day most players will return in good shape. Not doing so should be considered a reason to sell someone imo.

But while that's true for most players it's extra true for some. Sarr seems like one of those.

Big season for him this year, he [imo] has to start showing more consistancy then he has done so far. In some games he has been very good but at times he seems to drift through games. Still only 22 but he has to show more consistancy[imo] during games.

Think he'll be alright, 22 in a struggling side that itself had no consistency in either results or squad (with the injuries), I'd say his previous season was better than last.

Frank has used players in that high energy, box to box from deep that I think Sarr is suited for. Time for him to kick on.

I do not disagree at all, like you say he has youth on his side so lets hope he can step up for us.
