The Squad

What appeals to me with (sensible) rotation is that keeping players constantly involved keeps more of the group at or near form, so when suspension/injury occurs the replacement slots right in instead of coming in 'cold'.

People like Benitez take it to an extreme, something I cant stand.

And broadly I agree with MK in as much as it can be a natural cycle - I just like the idea of it being a little more organised in an effort to
a) avoid injury/fatigue and
b) keep replacements happy, fit and raring to go...

"I don't ever remember Bobby Moore getting rotated or Geoff Hurst or Martin Peters, playing ankle-deep in mud every week."

It's almost a good job we probably won't make champions league, chances are he'll have the same XI on the weekend and then against someone midweek in the group stages and still wonder why the wheels come off, chatting about some glorious West Ham players back in the day when football was simpler to divert attention from how much he had ballsed it up. That's assuming he's still here of course, which he most likely won't be.

"I'm very happy with what I have done.

"I saw Frank Lampard played 60 games a season, I didn't see him talking about being rotated.

"I didn't hear anyone complaining a month or so ago when we were beating everybody and flying."

I actually agree with Harry.

It is nonsense that they consider 30 games is too much.

However, if they are struggling with fitness, then his training regime must be terrible.

He's incorrect.

We have played 6-7 players in basically every game this season, Friedel, BAE, Walker, Bale, Modders and Ade for sure.

So interesting (and to Charlie's point), Skysports had a statistic on last night's news

No team above Spurs had played more players more than 24 times for season (believe it was 24)

- We had the most, with 9 players having crossed that number
- Manure had the least, with 3 (yep, three!)

Makes you think about it ...

The problem with these stats is they are League stats. Teams above subs were playing in the champion's league. They have rested players in the league so they could play in europe. We have done the opposite.

Oh well BAE gets to have a forced rest now.Danny Rose at LB for the rest of the season](*,)

There's no difference between us and Arsenal really on appearances this season
It can't be the reason we're in good form and we're in terrible form.

Szczesny 35
van Persie 35
Walcott 34
Song 31
Ramsey 31
Laurent Koscielny 30

Friedel 34
Assou-Ekotto 34
Walker 33
Modric 32
Bale 32

Ramsey 41
Koscielny 39
Arteta 38
Vermaelen 37

Walker 43
Assou-Ekotto 40

Modric 37
Kaboul 37

Chelsea should be knackered by the logic of this argument but they're having a storming end to the season.

Cech 52
Mata 50
Cole 45
Lampard 45
Torres 44
Meireles 42
Ramires 42
Ivanovic 41
Terry 39
Sturridge 39
Bosingwa 39
Luiz 39
Malouda 37

Stupid quote. Back then noone got rotated so everyone was at the same level of fitness/tiredness when they played each other.

Agreed. This quote was draconian. Absurd actually. Does he know that "On The Buses" and "Love Thy Neighbour" aren't on telly anymore? FFS...in fact, it reminded me of the jokes we used to crack at school about "how much worse we 'ad it than YOUR generation..." like a fudging Hovis ad!!!!

Charlie is talking gonad*s...............

Nope, Harry is the one talking out of his arse. He said: 'I didn't play any of them in the Europa League'...he should look back at the team-sheets because even MOdric played at least one game in the Europa!

Harry has really screwed up with not-rotating the squad this year. Rose showed at the end of last season that he's a decent LB and loaning out Charlie was mind-numbingly stupid

Again guys, both the Scum and Cheat$ki' have had less players play in PL games (vs. all up), believe vs. our 9 who had played in more than 24 games, both Scum/Cheat$ki had 6 or less.

And I would argue that Torres (as example) having played in 40+ games, what is that, half for 15 mins or less?

And they're considerably older. I make Harry right on this. It IS nonesense and an excuse.
