Morgan Schneiderlin

He's not a playmaker at all, where does this even come from??? The guy knows pass and move, he can give it five yards, move and receive comfortably but he doesn't have a dynamic pass in him. I don't know what's happened on here but it's as though we've become so accustomed to our CMs offering absolute zilch in terms of passing that anyone who doesn't stumble over the ball when trying to pass forward a few yards gets labelled as some kind of pass master. Schneiderlin is bland, he tackles, he intercepts, he passes simple and occasionally breaks forward off the ball. BLEURGH.

I want someone in there capable of making a meaningful or incisive pass once in a while.

And you think that Schneiderlin doesn't, or rather can't, make incisive passes?

How much have you actually watched him? I'm getting the impression that it isn't very much.

I've seen him a few times and he's looked good but we don't need him.

but thats exactly what schneiderlin would bring as well as experience and all round superiority

No thanks...lets stick with our young player thats producing rather than spend 20m plus on a shiny new toy that might produce.

Any money we have left should go on an attacking midfielder that plays further up the pitch and actually offers something different.

He's done it time and time again for Southampton, not exactly sure why that means he couldn't do it for us.

Our manager seems to disagree with you.

Would you be happy to deny him what he most wants?

yes.

It's clear Poch is happy with the squad (this is demonstrated when he says he's happy with the squad). If he feels that schneiderlin is essential AND we have the cash AND the deal represents good value for money then fine but currently it doesn't look like it does.

Rossi, damnit.

In addition, who do people think replaces bentelab currently in our side when he's unable to play?

We don't need to have 2 creative players, 2 dm's, 2 box to box etc etc. We need a system thats effective and players that can effortlessly slide into the team even if they are a different type of player than the player they are replacing.

I think that is a rather odd statement. We have been pursuing Schneiderlin all summer and there is countless rumours about us trying to move on several midfielders. Just because a manager says positive things about his players, that does not mean that he does not want any other players. Not every manager comes into a new club and behaves like LvG!

Further forward possibly but central midfield in 4-2-3-1 is the engine room. I think that you do need like for like replacements because otherwise the rest of the team has to adapt to a change in player.

He's happy with the squad but that doesn't mean that he thinks that the squad couldn't be improved (this is demonstrated by the fact that we are clearly trying to buy Schneiderlin).

You're going to have to provide evidence for this as I've certainly not seen it. Schneiderlin's creative/offensive output over a season is what you'd get from the likes of Fabregas, Ramsey and Yaya in a couple of games. If we're going to blow upwards of £20m on yet another central midfielder(how many have we gone through these past few years?) then I want one with game, not yet another ****ing DM who's "not bad" on the ball, why are we so scared of these players all of a sudden?

I mean just look at how his "creative" and "offensive" game compares to that of Dembele ffs

Surely we need 2 players for each position, ideally?

We have the 2 positions in deep midfield. Capoue is in one, Bentaleb the other. Dembele? Maybe. Sandro? Doesn't seem as if Poch rates him.

Capoue/Bentaleb/Schniederlin/Dembele seems like a very nice squad of 4 to compete/cover for the two positions.
