Yep, he didn't need to come out of his are for that fluffed clearance. The ball was coming through to him and the Villa player would have been nowhere near it.

If I was Ivan Gazidis I would screw the letter up and tell them to jog on for addressing me as 'Ivan' rather than 'Mr Gazidis'. Disrespectful scrotes.

That 2nd one was never a penalty and GHod knows how the ref got the Koscielny yellow cards wrong.

Really baffles me how they've struggled so mightily to bring players in, they are still a pretty big club and in the CL every season.

I thought they got it spot on on MOTD; they showed that Koscielny caught Agbonlahor's foot with his knee before getting his other foot to the ball. Definite pen.

Makes it all the sweeter for me.

Both were pens and Sczcesny should have been sent off. Arsenal are used to special treatment from referees so hardly surprising they're in shock when a few decisions go against them.

No one does essays like irate Arsenal fans.

Ohhhh! That result just sets up the most scrumptious scenario. They're down to a very thin squad due to injuries and have to play Fenerbache in mid-week. A defeat there would pile incredible pressure on them. Should they fail to qualify for group stage play in the Champions League, it's hard to imagine who they'd be able to sign up to join this sinking ship.

They have Fulham away and one has to believe BMJ still has some satisfaction to take from Wenger after their sideline contretemps at Highbury. We can only hope Berbatov does too. A loss there and a loss to us and Wenger is precariously perched for the chop with a season of misery looming large.

Just hope we are saving our best 11 for league play. Gorbless the Europa league, but it means sweet FA this season to us.

Speak for yourself, I want us to win the Europa League and we're developing a quality squad so we can compete in more than one competition.

What would be the point of making the CL then? Even less likely to win that.

If we want to be a Champions League team, then we need to be able to handle mid-week European games. Our squad has been improved this season, so I don't see any reason why we can't challenge for both, whilst still prioritising the league games. We don't have to play a complete youth side in the Europa, merely rotate the side between our league games. I'm sure that we will do that as a result of the added depth we have now (reliable replacements rather than just 'bodies').

Someone here said he was annoyed we had to play ECL games because it meant we did not get in the top 4 that season.

If I had to choose between the FA cup and the Europa, I would pick the FA cup hands down. The way the Europa is constituted at the moment makes it difficult for English teams to succeed in the competition AND do well in the league at the same time. Thursday games means you are always playing catch up to the teams who play on Saturday. Don't blame me, blame UEFA. Why can't they just play the games on alternate Wednesdays to the CL?

Excuse me, Kreskin, but where do I say I think we can't win it?

I don't know the first thing about Dynamo Tblisi. I do know we have a chance to boot in hard, deep and painful against our local rivals and build an early and important psychological edge in our domestic fortunes. In that regard, I've simply expressed the desire that we not put our most important players at risk when we have so much more at stake.

Especially when Bale's transfer saga, one way or the other, will still be unresolved. A focus on finishing in the top four is paramount.

Play the first team in the first leg, finish the tie off and then we can rest players before Arsenal. Best way to go imo.

Are you doubting the depth of quality we've built into this squad so far? Do we really need to play our first team to knock off a bunch of Caspian strivers? Would you not have happily traded the memories of last season's failed EL campaign for another two points in the Premier League?
