*** OMT Tottenham Hotspur vs West Ham United ***

Defoe scoring these goals once in a while just makes the problem worse. Forced to leave him in, forced to keep the same structure, and forced to keep the same flaws.

he is nowhere near the problem.....in the form of his life, its the players around him that are not up his form

Defoe's all round game is very much improved

True. When he smashes one in like that its great, but its not a long term fix and it wont get us enough goals or points over the course of a season.

That being said, it was a stunner. I dont think any other English player could score a goal like that.

Not too bad at half time. We don't seem to be quite clicking but there aren't many mistakes to be talking about by spurs players. Just a lack of excelling offensively.

That said Dempsey has been far better then previous.

West Ham are going to have to come at us in the second half, so lets hope we can hit them as they open the game up a bit.

it would be nice if he would pass occasionally though surely. he also makes life more difficult for the man playing up off him.

Even 0-0 I was quite happy with the performance. We dominated for long periods.

Carroll against anyone but Les is a no contest-he is coming deeper and that is a worry.

Defoe isn't the problem. The problem is we are reliant on a certain way of playing still from under Redknapp, which is wing-play. But our players aren't really that suited to it. We really need a central creative player who can feed through-balls through. We have controlled this entire game and West Ham look very ordinary, but we haven't carved them open time and again because we get to the area and we either run out of ideas and have to go back or we put in a cross that without anyone really good in the air in there, is often cleared. With Dembele in the team we look more dangerous as he runs centrally through midfield. If we did that more we'd be much more dangerous. As it is we are a good possession team that struggles to create clear-cut chances.

Our best performances have been with either Dembele or Carroll in midfield. Otherwise we are relying on one of our star players to come up with a bit of magic, like when Bale hit the bar and when luckily Defoe decides to beat 3 players and hammer it in the bottom corner.

Yep, great goal and hopefully can help us get a win here. Agree re the long term fix though and similar to what I mentioned about the fundamental problem which we have

This is yet another game where we have minimal/no creativity in CM and the 'no 10'/Dempsey/Sig/VdV role. Also no CF cover on the bench - thats criminal. Just hope that Levy and AVB dont think that because we're not too far off 4th that they can put off solving some of these problems til the summer

Great goal from Defoe - one of the season's best - and nice to see Michael Dawson get the assist.

Pretty good first half performance from Spurs but it's vital to press home our advantage from here and kill West Ham off.

That was pretty much my view as well, we just seem to miss that final ball. We played well in spells, then West ham came back into which you would expect.

Dembele on around the 60th minute mark for Huddlestone, get a 2nd goal game over 3pts COYS!!!
