I can't see how anyone can be critical of fans, they have no input on how the club is run, their reaction to the situation is no more than I would expect, they don't want the their club to be in this position are are in denial.
I think they feel their is a lot of jealousy about their fabulous record and all this is just bitter grapes, I know I'm envious of the success they had but I wouldn't want it the way they have done it.

My thoughts as well.

Dunno why everyone is suddenly upset - is it just because the media can have their say finally? It was clear as day they (and Chelsea) were cheating in the hugest way possible. Only difference with Chelsea is that the rules weren't in place when Abramovic started there (as I understand it anyway). Slightly dumbfounded by the reaction to this (more off here than on but even here some) - it's like finding out bears brick in the woods. Why the anger now?

Do you feel it's ok to break the rules in life and people should just accept it?

I don't think that's what he's saying.
We all knew they were cheating, why did it take this long for people to wake up to it.
Clowns like Neville, I don't want to cover their games anymore after doing nothing but blowing smoke up their arse for years.
They did accept it, they encouraged it, now it's out there the stink of hypocrisy is sickening.

100%. City fans are no better or worse than anyone else's fans. From their perspective, their owners did exactly what Chelsea did 5 years earlier. Their owners bridged the gap to Man U and Liverpool in the only way it could be realistically done. They did it by investing their own money into the club - not by defrauding anyone or spending money they didn't have.

They are all understandable points of view and points of view that many of us would have adopted in the same position. You only have to look on here or other Spurs boards to see that many fans wanted investment and didn't care where it came from including the Middle East.

All of that doesn't get away from the fact that City cheated, broke the rules and deserve to be punished. But, in a million years, I wouldn't condemn their fans.

Football does funny things to people though, I get it, but you the inability for many of them to say "yeh look we fcuked it" is just incredible given the evidence. You are right, many would have taken the same approach, you only had to look on here when we were linked with the Qataris, many ready to sign an oath in blood.

To be fair, we haven't seen the detailed evidence. They're going to deny reality until it becomes undeniable - that's what humans do.

Looking from the outside, logic dictated that it was impossible that City's commercial revenue could rival United and Real Madrid. That, for me, is a massive red flag and the case the PL made against City makes perfect sense to me - the owners topped up sponsorship deals to enable them to cheat. I absolutely believe that is what happened. Do I have proof that's the case? No proof that would stand up to scrutiny. Same as the rest of us watching this. So, if you're a City fan, you can still plausibly deny what's happening.

"There is no conclusive proof in the public domain that we cheated and our owners are adamant that we didn't. I'm going to choose to believe them."

I think most fans of all clubs would take that position.

Frankly mate I would be embarrassed by it mate.

We would not of had to of cheated had they purchased us instead of City. Bigger fan base and in London.

Re an earlier post PSR rules were introduced into the PL in 2015 , so they were certainly in place when Abramovitch was at Chelsea , unfortunately Chelsea were never investigated by either PL or UEFA when RA was in charge , the discrepancies only came to light when he was no longer the owner.

The big questions regarding City is why if they are so innocent why have they not cooperated with investigations by UEFA and the Premier League, they were found guilty of non cooperation by CAS and were heavily criticised for it .

As you say we all believed the allegations, but like everyone in our society you're innocent until you're found gulity. Now the verdict is in it's fair to be aggrieved about their rule breaking and want suitable punishment.
I wish fans weren't do tribal on this issue, it's not what we or others missed out on that's important it's the flagrant cheating of all people who love the game and think it should be honest and fair.

Even with the off the book payments factored in they were not in breach of FFP.

Yes , it was to do with making under cover payments to agents etc,
Trouble is some fans keep bringing up Chelsea and why they haven't been docked points and the reason is Alan Sugar.

Yes we had a very similar situation where Sugar uncovered the illegal payments after he bought the club. He got away with a lager fine vs points deduction and FA Cup ban based on the fact he was a new owner and played ball.

If no one ever raised it or pushed it the PL would be still sitting on their hands and doing nothing, as they did with Chelsea.
It doesn't have to be tribal to call out cheats, in fact wishing fans wouldn't be tribal because it's a bad look is enabling cheats.
Possibly the biggest sporting league in the world is being dragged through mud, should we all just be quiet?

No, if you look back I've written often about the media ignoring to issue, we as fans have every right to be annoyed, being tribal about this issue makes fans look as those they are only interested in how it may have effected their club, it's a much bigger issue.
Writing on fan forums will achieve nothing and in a lot of cases looks like jealousy.
How long has the mismanagement of VAR is this league been a major topic? Has anything been done to address it apart from changing rules and interruption of them which has lead to more controversy.
What fans think is irrelevant to all the major players in football FA, PL and Media, their prime aim is to protect their interests. After years of praising City's achievements the media are loathed to admit to what many suspected and PL look foolish in allowing it to happen, FA should have taken a more proactive stance as they are responsible for the game in this country, they all wish this would go away and be forgotten.
All that matters in football is winning it doesn't matter how or what you have to do to achieve it. Those responsible for the game don't care they're just getting richer.
