Switch Tonali for Bergvall and you have an excellent midfield three allowing each of them the freedom to do what they do best. Bergvall, Gallagher and Gray as backups.

MGW Is super flexible in game and has a strong history of delivering
I wouldn’t complain at Gakpo but do think he has more limitations than someone like MGW
Hell I’d even go for Scott too

In the era of Arsenal harra ball long throws and corner merchants I’m happy for to sign all the technical small lads and play fun attacking football even if it for end result in league titles. We don’t have to wait long for Madders or Kulu (

The game is constantly evolving. It’s better to be ahead of the trends than to copy others especially when it’s dog brick football. If we wanted to do that should have stuck with Tommy Frank.

I like the sentiment and spiritually agree.
Hoddle was taller and tougher than people remember, and Ossie was tough too. Yes, getting kicked to bits was the 80s for sure. The side you're talking about also had Nico Claessen (short). Both Waddle and Hoddle were 6ft (tall at the time), ditto Mitchell Thomas and Richard Gough. FWIW Clive Allen's 5ft 10", but I get what you're saying and would also enjoy it. We will, however, find set-pieces very, very hard; we just need to not complain about it LOL...

Jose Dominguez provided one of the greatest ever debut performances v Derby at home, totally unplayable, beating 2 or 3 every time he got the ball… fair to say it was all down hill from there.

I don’t disagree with your point at all really. I just don’t see Gakpo as the answer. He is tall but he’s not a physically imposing player. Simular to his Dutch counterparts who happen to be our starting CB’s but are not exactly monsters in the air either.
When I looked up MGW height i was suprised to see he is 5’7. When I looked up Gakpo’s height I was suprised to see he was 6’4. To me, MGW is the more physical player.

MGW achieved 18 goals and 7 assists across the PL / EL last season. The majority were in the PL.
The question RDZ would have to ask is if he put MGW in the 10 in his system would the player keep that goal contribution rate going. You put those stats into a team that has Kudus and Savio wide with Marmoush leading the line then what would be the collective goal contribution, factoring in the backup players. You'd be switching in Tel, Solanke, Madds, Kulu etc and there's no lack of talent there not top mention the ability to tactically switch things around.
My sense is that the equivalent argument for Gakpo over MGW is where RDZ's head is at. Gakpo had 13 goals and 10 assists across PL/CL plus his international exploits. It's probably easier to exclude the latter from Spurs debates, but 4 goals and 4 assists in a year for an international player is top notch.
My conclusion is either way we improve. We definitely win if we get full access to Kulu and Madds, Solanke gets going again and Tel continues his trajectory. Our attacking output will be superb.
We can then get back to worrying about what's happening at LB
