Not that I'm bitter...

Were we? Don’t remember us creating much outside of a Vertonghen chance and Eriksen free kick.

I’ve never even watched the highlights back though. Too painful.

We were, but game state was in Liverpool's court after that pen. Heat was insane. I have watched it back three times since. I think Poch's biggest mistake was taking Dele off when Llorente came on. That combo essentially created Ajax for Moura. Maybe Dele was exhausted...

I’ll remember this day … but in my heart I know that we should have kept Dembele for the rest of the season even if it was to play just one game. Not blaming Sissoko he was an animal getting us to that final.

I remember being in Islington watching the game and as I’ve gone out to get some fresh air, I came back to the packed bar and some Liverpool fan casually sat on my bar stool and when asked to get up he kissed his teeth at me and turned around like I wasn’t there. I then told him politely to get up before it gets messy. The bar tender called security and threw the lad out. He was giving the slit throat sigh through the window while I drank his freshly poured beer. That was the only highlight of the day.
He was utterly broken in the end

Just remember, all the poop in the world since 2019, Trump, covid, Ukraine, Gazza, Trump agfudgingain, all started with this travesty.
Take heed gods, just imagine what horrors will be fall the world if we are relegated.
You've been warned.

We were crap. Liverpool weren't good either but then they didn't need to be giving they already had the lead and we weren't doing anything to threaten them.

Neither side was great. The heat was overbearing. The goal at that time allowed them to sit back and conserve. Had that pen not been given it would've been a very different game IMO.

Deart GHod man, let the last bit go and just join us in bitterland will you?????!!!!!!
Sorry Steff but I'm with @Bishop on this one, it's all getting a bit Victin FC on here. We had literally the whole match to do something about it and make no mistake about it heat or no heat we flopped.

Never rewatched that game, find it utter madness any Spurs fan would want to do that to themselves. Much rather watch reruns of the Ajax semi second leg :)....

100% it wasn't a pen, but we had 88 minutes to recover and do something about it and failed miserably.

100%

It's like saying Lampard's ghost goal cost us (Ingerlund) against Germany. It's just different levels of teams.

Moments change matches and we can feel a bit hard done by (although the rule was implemented correctly iirc and changed after) but Liverpool had a bunch of extra gears to go through if it was needed. Had we a bit more about us with actual belief to cross the finish line then they would have been challenged to raise their game.

I'd rather regale in memories of Bilbao rather than bringing all this up again but I chose to click and comment!

Don't apologize, just as long as you recognize the intent of the post was to bang on angrily about a decision which could conceivably be argued to have changed the history of our club. And the reason I have rewatched it several times was to see if we were as poor as some make out; we weren't. It was a match which was effectively stifled by that erroneous decision.

Nah. It really isn't. I mean, if you want it can be. But 'different levels of teams'? Nope.

Not sure if you were there, but the temperature was insane and had a profound effect on the game state alongside the shocking decision.

That you did, amigo! You must surely have recognized that rationality was not the main purpose of the post!
Tell you what...I blame ANGE!!!!!!! 😂 😂 😂 😂 😂 😂 😂 😂 😂 :p:p:p:p:p:p:p

Sure, I just don't subscribe to it when we had the whole game to change it. And I don't buy that it enabled Liverpool to just conserve energy in the heat, the stats show they covered more distance than us.

There has been plenty of examples of teams who have had a shocking decision made against them and comeback to win. It was a poor game all round from both teams, but the onus was on us to come back into it and we didn't do enough.

Regardless, as always respect your opinion :) .....
