Thomas Frank - Head Coach

Because we need goals and he brought on a defensive midfielder and a defensive left back. He effectively gave up. That was pathetic. He them brought on more attacking places when we had just 10 minutes left FFS

Yeah game was done, it was about managing minutes, in both directions.

It's not pathetic to be realistic and move focus to what comes next imo.

I'm hoping something was lost in translation there, in fact I'm sure it must be the case.

Because if our manager genuinely thought that we couldn't possibly come back from 2 goals down with over half hour to go against the team sitting 17th in the league then he doesn't belong here. And I don't believe Frank to be of that mindset....

He publicly called him his guy

That whole dynamic with Lange is a disaster waiting.

Anything has to be, by definition of our set up....committee decisions

I suppose with two recruiters and big talking owners we might see some big moves.

Let's not hold our breath
I’m not convinced, but we will see very soon
Id lie to see a manager really backed buy January is a poor time and in a World Cup year

We genuinely couldn't, we've all seen that game a hundred times before, there was zero chance of us turning that specific situation around.

It was impossible.

I've seen us comeback from 2 goals down when playing poorly plenty of times. One of the main reasons why? Change of tactics and game changing subs.

But like I say, I refuse to accept Frank conceded defeat at that stage. Just don't envisage that at all....

I’ve taken it to mean he was disappointed that the team didn’t respond and seemed to give up when we went down to 2-0.

Whether that mentality is down to Frank and his coaching is a separate issue, but I don’t think he meant he gave up any chance of winning when it got to 2-0

The quotes to me read as though he is laying out how the game played out and that our reaction to going 2 down meant the game was lost in that period (he mentions about how we gave the ball away a lot at this point)

*only read the quotes once

I just watched MNU vs BOU, to see if Iraola can coach his team to beat a fairly poor MNU team.

It was hectic, end to end stuff. At some point in the second half BOU just absolutely wilted and conceded 2 goals in 2 minutes.
Then it was MNU's turn to wilt and concede chance after chance, with their keeper clawing and scraping the ball away.

4-4 was a fair reflection of 2 absolutely chaotic teams that don't seem to know how to control a match, just end to end craziness.

So perhaps the grass isn't always greener, when pondering other coaches and players.

I note in the table we have... points:
26 CRY MNU LIV SUN and the narrative is that CRY/SUN are on an incredible run and LIV/MNU are just awful right now
24 EVE and the narrative is that Moyes has brought the glory back to Everton
23 BRI
22 TOT NEW Spurs are absolutely hopeless, Saudi Sportswashing Machine are a really good side and the only way is up, their midfield is unstoppable, their attackers are elite, their defence are giants etc etc.

So media/fan narratives can drive a lot of this debate. We are still very close to the other teams in terms of points.

YES we have played REALLY BADLY a lot of the time, but so have other teams too, we are not alone.

I thought it was an enjoyable game to watch.

Can't help thinking Frank was Lange’s mate, Ange was Munn's mate, and even Jol was Arneson's mate. And didn't Paratici try to get his mate Gattuso? It's all jobs for the boys.

My take was that Davies was an attacking sub. Spence was never going to overlap and deliver into the box (like a LB should with an inverted winger ahead). Having Davies go that way would widen the pitch and would then give Kudus more room.

It’s pretty rubbish how we’ve let the LB situation get like that (relying on Davies to attack) I might add.

But it is pathetic to give up when your are 2 goals down with 30 minutes to go. I have seen Spurs score 2 goals after 90 minutes to win a match. Heck even West Spam earned a draw against us from 3:0. down with 15 minutes to go.

Numerous teams have made up 2 goals this season with much less than 30 minutes to go. I have not given Frank any stick before this match, but that kind of thinking from our manager is tinkle poor.
