James Maddison

I’ve never seen the fuss with him
He just doesn’t stand out in any game I’ve seen
Maybe that’s his role but not for me

I think he’s a bit Modroc like in how deep he plays but carries the ball a bit more than passing it. He’s also only 23….

Modric like…
Wow
I saw him play us twice and he was but a stand out in either game
I’ve never seen him stand out for Italy either
Yes he is 23 and in Italy that’s considered young
Over here he would be a seasoned pro
Guess we will see though
Every time I’ve seen him he has been like Skipp for me. Busy and blocking but not one I’d associate with passing or anything high end

Tonali looks great to me, very controlled, intelligent, smooth, always in the right place, always probing.

We have effectively signed Maddison now imo. When he officially signs just depends how quickly Leicester move to a price we are comfortable with.

They will eventually get to a price we want it just may have to be as late as deadline day when they will be at their most desperate.

We will probably start with an opportunistic £30m plus £5m in easily attainable add-ons but that will be rejected.

Hopefully eventually all will settle on around £40m plus £5m in add-ons but with a base fee that high these add-ons should be more difficult such as CL qualification etc.

I think that deal roughly will happen eventually it just could take many weeks to arrive there.

Isn't it concerning that he has no other suitors? You'd think someone like West Ham or Bournemouth would be all over this.

No, he's made it clear he wants to come to us so they're not going to waste their time. What's your next reason why we shouldn't be in for him?

Wow. Really does seem that Tonali is going to Saudi Sportswashing Machine

He's bloody brilliant IMO and alongside Guimaraes is a great CM partnership

Might well help us get Maddison though
TBH, I've never been impressed by Tonali. He's bigged up to be the next Pirlo, he's nowhere near that (tbf, who is..) But don't see what the hype is about. He's decent, but don't see him ever being top class.

Only seen Tonali 4 times, twice v us and twice v Inter, I thought he was a complete non entity in all 4. I appreciate that’s a small sample size.

Same as its always been - he's a decent midtable player of dubious character, and we've had our fill of David Bentleys over the years

I think he is better than that, I don’t like his comments about us in the past and that clouds my judgement.

I think he will end up being more of a Jenas for us than a Bentley (although I will be pleasantly surprised if he does achieve his potential, unlike Jenas(who I love btw))

Porlo wasn't quite Porlo at 24 either. As he got older he was a player who matured into his game. I'm not sure if Tonali will follow a similar trajectory but it's something to think about.

If he can add 15-20 goals and assists a season he will be loved
His set pieces are superb too

Kane won’t be happy if he can’t take the free kicks [emoji1787]

But we do need to get more goals from midfield, especially as we are likely to loose Kane at some point

The character thing only seems to be early 20s?
Haven't heard much negativity for 2/3 years.
He had a kid in summer 2021, so might coincide with that - he may have just grown up
