As great a manger as Conte is I think hus treatment of Spence is extremely disappointing to put it politely. It is one thing to say he is not ready for EPL football when you are playing some of the top teams but for his number 2 to suggest he is not good ready to play against a team like Forest is disingenuous to say the least.

If Conte was totally against the signing he should have made it clear to our director of football who also happens to be his mate that he does not want him. Alternatively we could have signed him and send him out on loan for the season in the EPL with Forest for fuks sake.
 
Doesn't he follow up saying 'if we think the LC is important we need players who are ready' with 'Spence is one of those for sure' ?

That to me is implying he is ready to play?

Levy should manage these type of issues - like laying down the rules that we use what we buy etc.
Who makes these investment calls for THFC? Definitely no Mourinho, we're seeing its probably not Conte, so its Paratici? Before him was it Hitchen ? Did Levy ever get invovled? Conte keeps calling Spence a club decision so I get a very strong feeling he didn't get much involved.

Yeah. I don't see why it's particularly controversial.

Some players from the Championship make the step up immediately, some need more time.

I get the lack of patience, wanting to see him play, see what he can actually do. But I don't think that desire from us as fans should be used to judge Conte's decisions.

Exactly where I am with it, not ITK, just think he is not likely to feature from the start, I could and hope I am wrong but let's see

We have to because we don't have a choice, but where I am with it is that you absolutely don't know until you try and how long do you wait till the length you wait actually works against you? Spence is 22 not 16 and was the Championships best RB by someway, we lose absolutely nothing and find out a huge amount by trying him, at the very least it settles the GG forum debate haha

Tonight, there is absolutely no reason not to play him.

You have to wonder whats the point having a squad. We also talk about Conte knowing best but then you have to question if those, with experience, making decisions on recruitment do? Or If Conte thinks they know.

We can argue the toss about each others knowledge but the real question is regardless of what we think, is there trust in the system where it really matters?
