But I do use my eyes and ears as a fan
My eyes tell me royal is a weak link holding this team back
My ears tell me there are a lot of spurs fans who don’t rate him and opposition fans who think he is comedy gold

All true, but what we don't know is whether Spence is the answer right now. If, as has been said, it takes players a while to learn how to play to Conte's system (look at Bissouma for example), perhaps Conte is doing the right thing with Spence.

My friend I agree 100%. And some people might accuse me of having tunnel vision in relation to Djed Spence, but I should stress that I am not insisting he must start for us, I just think he deserves a little more than the limited minutes over 3 matches considering we have not looked dynamic at right wingback.

Sess was subbed yesterday after his yellow card, but I actually think even he looked a better option at right wingback than Emerson.

When he was signed him he had a reputation as a defensive right back and had never played as am attacking right wingback, I think to get the best out of Emerson he should be deployed in a back 4 which Conte will not play.

Spence hasn’t been given a Chance to show conte he can be trusted. That’s poor IMO

Victor Moses was a notoriously poor trainer. Played joked about it yet he played under conte

This is probably what will happen. Spence will start in a much weakened side with Tanganga and Sanchez etc. and Conte will use it as an excuse to keep him out of the picture. The gutting thing is, Even if Spence has a blinder I think we already have plans to try and buy another experienced WB in January. He might just need that double hat trick for him to get a look in!

Tbh I dont think getting in a more experienced wing back will hinder Spence beyond this season. I saw a lot of Spence last season, and the guy can defend - as an example he kept Martinelli in his pocket all game last season v Arsenal and got MOTM. I would like to think the only reason Conte is giving him zero time is because he is training him to be 100% up to speed with how specifically Spence should be defending in his setup before he trusts him(and trust is clearly a massive thing for Conte), and not because he simply doesnt rate him - I would be astounded if Conte does not see this guy as a potential WB for us. Doherty for me doesnt have a long term future here, and Royal seemingly wont either so for next season it could still easily be Spence plus a more established wing back....

So will my young fella. Brought him to the club shop yesterday to get a shirt coz he was in Chirpy's parade and he wanted "Spence 24" on the back of it. Now he's all excited for Wednesday night expecting Spence will play. If he doesn't, we may as well send him on loan in which case I'll be billing A. Conte for the cost of the jersey.
 
I wonder if the fact that Spence is not on loan is a good sign that conte feels he will learn more by being in and around the squad to learn the system.
