There's a bit of a generational thing here I think. People who remember Dalglish as a player are probably slower to slaughter the guy than are those who don't.
He was awful last season for sure, but he should never, ever have been given the job in the first place after so many years out of the game. Indeed, the main reason he lost control of the Suarez situation was precisely because he was so rusty and had developed such a tin ear for the vocabulary of modern football. He appeared doddery at times. A wee bit senile. Which of course he isn't - it's just that in football terms he'd become a dinosaur in every sense.
Considering some of the awful people involved in football, Dalglish would come a long way down in any list of rogues and scoundrels.

This is true.
I think he either - asked for help and got bad advice or asked for help and was lost when it did not appear.
(Of course i believe the final say on signings was down to him, so he deserves most of the blame for those)

I get that Kenny steadied the ship. His appointment was inspired in a way.
No manager was going to achieve what the fans thought was achievable. They still thought they were a top 4 team. With Kenny they had a manager who the fans would never turn on regardless of results. Sure they saw the writing on the wall, but in the end they reluctantly agreed that they had to move on from Kenny.
Imagine if Rodgers was appointed instead of Kenny. He may have achieved a better result footballing wise but never would have gotten close to where the pool fans thought they deserved to be.
Kenny was the disastrous manager they had to have for the fans to realise that all was not well on the park. He's now given the next manager breathing space and reduced expectations.

Supeted, that theory is fine if Kenny didn't tinkle away 100M+ on dross that Pool can't give away and fudged up the chances of the new manager getting the players/wages he needs for the unreasonable expectations that he will get.

True true. My theory though is that any manager would have been a failure, KKK was just an even bigger failure however he galvanized the fans which is the best they could hope for. If they brought in Rodgers or another boss who didn't have 10 Champs League titles to their name after Roy, he would have been hounded out at the first loss to a poor side and the fans would have been baying for blood.

Although Rodgers admitted his admiration for the Welsh international, he said there has been no formal contact between the two clubs over a proposed move for Allen.

I dont. I blame Liverpool. There is something about the mentality in that club that changes otherwise normal/nice people into tacos and tacos into c*nts.
Thats not to say Rodgers was all roses before hand, but since being there has shown a very different side to himself.
One that disappoints me, and being quite a fan leaves me feeling (at this point) glad we didnt get him.
Look at Liverpool, the wild sense of self importance, expectation, the victim culture, the ego - it spreads from the top of the club through to the fans...
