***** OMT Tottenham v Manchester United *****

It's difficult for a team to pull in the right direction when the man in charge clearly is a 9th choice or whatever. It doesn't exactly inspire. These guys need to be lead, but we haven't had a good leader since Poch.

We saw the same brick from a number of these players under Poch too.

Some of them are just clams, we shouldn’t be firing the manager, we should be firing some of the players.

Or just get it over with and fire Levy. How many moor poor managerial decisions and general fudge ups is he gonna be allowed to make that take the club backwards is he gonna be allowed to make? He was a brilliant chairman for 15 years but enough is enough now. Too many mistakes in the last 5 years. He doesn’t deserve a life pass.

At the end of last season it was - Levy has to hire a DoF. He did what fans were screaming for. We got Paratici, binned Santos, and got Nuno. So I'm thinking the fans who were all screaming for a DoF are as much to blame here.

Getting a DOF was one of his better moves recently. He finally realised he has no clue when it comes to the football side so he employed someone to make the decisions for him.

Pretty sure Levy is primarily focussed on Stadium Revenue spreadsheets...
Does losing matter so much if we make an extra £Xm per boxing match?

If we are making 2m from a boxing event but could make 70m from champs league participation it would make sense to improve the football side of things.

The stadium is a good side hustle no more.

And signing Royal looks like decent business. Romero is certainly a footballer, and most seem to like him. Paratici also managed to move on some players, though clearly there are still more to shift. As for hiring Nuno, it was an odd decision as he is Mourinho's protege. I guess Paratici sat down with Santos in Italy and outlined his vision. And it just clashed with Santos. Nuno must have been the next choice, and here we are.

I don't think Nuno is terrible. The core problem is trying to break and handing back the ball constantly.

1. the movement is not good enough
2. if the pass on the break is not on, we have to be able to retain the ball and do more playing through the middle.

Actually, we have showed signs of improving our passing and playing through the middle. But I think Nuno has always been fighting against the current and fans sentiments as he's essentially playing the Mourinho way. With such poison it does seem untenable for him now.

This x 100.

IMHO the slide downwards began about 6 months before we reached the Champions League final. Getting there just papered over the cracks that were beginning to show. Why Poch started a clearly unfit Kane after Lucas hat trick in the semi was disgraceful. We should have brought Kane on for the last 20 mins if we were chasing the game. After that game we should have cashed in and rebuilt with the windfall we could have got then.
Since then we have really not spent our money wisely. We offered 20 mil for Grealish and could probably got him for 25-30mil As mentioned earlier we could have got Fernandes for a little more than we paid for Le Celso. To be fair the issue is probably what wages we can offer the top players. How many players have we got for between 15 and 30 mil who are average to say the least? The list is quite long and I would include Regullion Hojberg Lucas Bergwijn and Lo Celso to name a few. Then the players we have splashed bigger money on have never quite fitted in for whatever reason. See Ndombele and Sanchez. Add to that losing the likes of Eriksen and Dembele and the decline of Dele and the lack of decent youngsters coming through all adds up to the position we find ourselves in now. Combined with the fact Levy continually picks the wrong manager over and over again or wont pay the compensation needed to secure the right person.
Sadly the only way out of this position I can see is spending a couple of hundred million over the next few windows but I dont think thats actually going to happen.
Still rant over!!

I do think Ndombele has a lot to answer for. He has let down 3 managers now. Poch needed a midfield, LeCelco got injured and Ndomebel was unfit.

Mourinho went the extra mile, coaching Ndombele himself in lockdown getting him fit. He even played him for just 60mins to get a tune from him. In the end he let Mourinho down and he dropped him.

Nuno tried to sell him. No takers and we lack someone with his skillset in midfield. Ndombele knuckled down, and Nuno did get him playing. But we need Ndombele playing week in and out to really get him doing well. If he didn't show up for training or walked about listlessly in training (or worse we don't know), he has now let Nuno down too.

To think we had the choice of signing Fernandez and ended up with LeCelco and Ndomble. Poch was an amazing coach, but pretty terrible with transfers imo.

So glad now my stream didn't work.
After reading the texts about the match I'm glad I went and did the shopping with the wife.

Just back at the hotel. Well that was fudging miserable. 0-3 against probably the worst United team in recent memory who were begging to crack under a bit of pressure but we couldn't apply it.

Thought Romero, Royal, Hojbjerg, Lucas and Son did OK. Hugo couldnt be blamed either. Skipp had a mare but I won't be Captain Hindsight here. I'm a massive fan but he just had one of those games and it wasn't just the second goal.

I know a lot of fans are down on the players but I wouldn't be today. They tried. Son busted a nut all day, Hjobjerg tried his heart out, Gio was throwing in tackles, Romero went for everything, Royal was throwing in huge tackles at 0-3. Even Davies was so frustrated that he lashed out towards the end. Kane, for all the brick he is getting was chasing back when the game was lost
These players do care. They're being let down by clueless tactics from the dugout.

We have no attacking plan. 5, 6, 7 times second half, we slowly worked the ball out right to Royal and Son but United had got back into shape and closed the space. It was a fudging eyesore. No urgency, no guile, no clue. "Nuno has sorted out the defence" was something I heard all week. He has in my hoop. 0-3 v Man U? Shambolic.

The decision to hook Lucas was beyond belief. He was the only one who looked like he might get lucky with a dribble. The boos were merited. It wasn't even an attempt to change the game. Bergwijn for Moura. What the fudge is Bergwijn going to offer that will be much different to Moura? Head scratching doesn't begin to sum that one up.

Nuno is clueless and there are signs he is losing control. He made a big statement in his press conference yet didn't back it up. Those who were dropped sat on the bench and still played a part. You can't have players who, by your own admission, aren't committed and allow them in the squad. When Poch did it, from memory, he took the big decisions and got rid. Nuno talked the talk but didn't walk the walk.

Something also struck me in the warm up. May be something of nothing but it did stick with me. They were doing a shooting drill that started well but turned into an indisciplined mess. Kind of like drills I've done with 10 year olds that fall apart when you know theyve stopped listening to you. I don't expect that from professionals.

I want to want Nuno to have the year because having appointed him, I think you have to give him a fair chance. But it's hard. The players are better than this brick. The results are poor or, at least, the defeats are unacceptably poor. The noises of the players not warming to him are a worry. His utterances are either uninspiring or not backed up. He's now under severe pressure and the shouts of "you don't know what you're doing" and "we want Nuno out" will get louder and more regular.

I've a lot to say on Levy too but will leave that for another time. I hope he sat very uncomfortably in his seat today because he's sewn the seeds of this mess.
