Next Manager?

I'm a mix, family are blue but most of my friends are green.
He is hated on both sides, probably more on the green side because he betrayed them.
It's souness and rangers to Liverpool all over again.
Tbh he actually did really well up here off the pitch, if ever there is a job to bring out the absolute p rick in you it's as old firm manager, but he handled that side pretty well.
No gloating, no taking all the credit, and he generally acted well.
Who knows maybe he has matured.
I don't hate either old firm, but I do hate Liverpool.
I'm lucky, I get to laugh at both sides, which in fairness is really easy because as long as one is winning the other is in turmoil.
In what way did he betray them mate?

Left them before the end of the season with the league and Scottish Cup on the line.
He went from being the messiah to judas overnight.
Team was hitting a sticky patch to boot iirc.
They basically had to go and pull Neil lennon off a flight to offer him the job for the cup semi final in two or three days.
Was hilarious.

You overrate our players massively as is clear to everyone. None of them and I mean none of them have elicted any serious interest from rivals or higher prestige sides despite many of them being available at various times. You're going to be forever disappointed in what any manager archives because you can't see what's actually in front of your eyes. Kane is world class, Son has been at times and the Belgium defenders were a great duo. The rest are just good players except Lamela who is midtable standard.

Poch's system and coaching has made you think the parts were better than the sun when it was the other way around. Now you're seeing the effect of just having the parts and it doesn't quite add up to what you think it does.

Maybe if Mourinho had spent some time during the season integrating him into the side and giving him minutes in the PL here and there he might not have looked so rusty in the moment we absolutely had to use him. Remember in the Brighton game he didn't even start him. So yes the blame has to fall on Jose.

I agree that Jose was wrong in not bringing him on against Brighton so yes Jose is partially to blame but I’ve seen him a few times this season and severely underwhelmed

A big part of the reason we didn't win stuff with the 'nobodies' is because we were planning/building the stadium and had limited resource to back them fully, i think now we're in the and can evidently spend considerably more then that wi allow us take that next step up, when we appoint a manager that is the right fit

We should have won something with the side that Poch had
We didn’t
He’s a nobody and hardly tearing trees up with PSG

He hadn’t won anything before he rocked up here
He got lucky with us having an excellent side but couldn’t get us over the line

He’s a good coach but failed as a manager most notably when he threatened to resign just before the biggest game in our history
Then compounded it by not travelling back with his beaten side

Deservedly got sacked imv

Not going well with Jose either a proven winner and I really don’t know what we’re going to do

Give him more time and hope or get rid get a caretaker manager and start afresh next season

Huge game for us tomorrow

Comes with the territory of being a manager. Jobs become vacant often in the middle of the season so they have to take them when the opportunity arises or someone else will. When players do the same and refuse to play/train fans will defend their right to do it.

Exactly. I think we can offer a lot to Rodgers and realistically he's not going to get a bigger or similar level job in the PL. Man C and Cheatski always go overseas, Liverpool probably wouldnt go back to him and Gerrard is next up for them anyway,.....if he ever wants to manage a big club again, its us or no-one

If he continues to impress with Leicester i think all doors in the league would be open for him. Our best bet would be to get in before he really pushes them on.

Yeah, reasonable understand that, but the old firm really are like a cult and you should never want to leave.
What made it worse is he was "one of their own".

Shudder to think what the compo would be and would Levy pay it and then paying off Jose

I can’t see it happening

They buy well because Rodgers isn't in charge of the buying. They have Director of Football, a Head of Senior Player Recruitment and a team of analysts working to find the hidden gems (ie. the ones that the big clubs aren't entirely convinced about).

The worst thing we can do is to hire a successful coach and give him a free reign.

Agree with this, Levy needs to be looking at both departments (coaching + transfer/scouting)

Sounds like the time people wanted Jose here

We were linked with someone else's DOF earlier this year I forget who but their signings were class

Yep that's the chap... my fear is that whoever comes in Levy just has to chime in. Why doesn't levy be the DoF and manager if he doesn't fully commit and trust his own appointments ... he has too much power at the club.

Jose is a has been, clear a day. We ain't moving forward with him in charge.

Yes, a DoF is irrelevant to Jose not installing any way of playing in the team. Again on the tactical charge sheet is his non-sensical claim whenever we defend deep that it wasnt as a result of his instruction to do so - WTF isn't he off his bench telling them to push up in that case?!? We're so badly coached at the moment its a joke

To be fair to him, he was being offered a much bigger role and had he knocked it back another good opportunity may not have come around. I likes of Spurs or Arsenal would’ve wanted him had he not done well with Leicester.
