Redknapp

Yeah I'd say so.

Yeah he hasn't won the league, or any cups - but what he HAS done, is maintained our progress and improvement.

I think some of you don't quite appreciate just how difficult that is to do, that being - to just maintain your position. We've spent diddly squat to achieve that too - even more of an achievement, when you consider those around us are spending fudging hundreds of millions, both on fees and wages.

And I'm sorry, but some of you are pure lying to yourselves if you honestly think Daniel Levy hasn't had a large say-so in us spending diddly squat. He made a point in the last accounts to state that essentially the squad needed to be trimmed and was unsustainable. That's a pressure bearing right down on the managers head: lose resource yet deliver on objectives. Leeds, you know yourself - that's fudging hard to do in ANY line of business.

We don't have the finances or the players to win the title; neither of which are good enough. We have a good team, but it's not an outstanding one. Am I supposed to be fudged off that we never won the Premiership or something? Get real!! Build slowly and surely - that's the way to success, and to be successful in the long-term. Sorry chaps if it tinkles over your fireworks, but Harry Redknapp delivers on that front. Any other season and we'd be talking about him achieving Champions League football for us, for the 2nd time - and only a point off 3rd. Considering we finished 5th last time out, that - in whatever light - IS progression.

Again. No cups and he MAINTAINED our progression, so you acknowledge we were already dong well, given the size of stadium nd financial constraints. But that qualifies as incredible success?? fudge me mate, what adjective will you use if we win the league??? :)

Harry Redknapp's trophy cabinet

:tumbleweed:

Bill Nicholson's

League and FA Cup double 1961
FA Cup 1962 (Getting to European Cup Semi's)
Cup Winners Cup (First british team to ever win a european trophy) 1963
FA Cup 1967

What exactly has Harry delivered, who is nothing more than a fudging common used car salesman done to be compared to our club legend Bill Nic ?

Nicholson finished 18th and 3rd in the two seasons he had before winning the League.

Redknapp has had one season more than that and it's been 4th, 5th and 4th. 3rd was only a Fulop away.

I think you need to be careful if you're going start talking about actual statistics and results when hammering Redknapp, because on that front Redknapp has the highest win percentage and most points per game of any manager in the history of the club, including Bill Nic.

Tell me something. Suarez delivers on the park in footballing terms as does Harry in your argument. Would you be happy with Suarez playing for Spurs ?

Sorry, I thought this was a thread about Harry Redknapp?

If I wanted to talk about Luis fudging Suarez, I'd go and find a thread about Luis fudging Suarez wouldn't I?

Oh well thats all fudging rosy then, wtf does it matter, Harry has a better win %.
What has that win % got us ? Oh we qualified for the CL one year. Let's get him up there in the same league as Bill Nic.
Oh my fudging GHod.

Yep. That's my point. Harry has done ok, maybe better than average. But he a clown shoe. I don't want him managing my club but. I'm merely one voice and if he stays then so be it.

Spurs not redknapp.

All it takes is one other voice to tell him he is fired.

p.s. No not Alan Sugar.

comparing redknapp to suarez? oh my days! i am leaving this thread before i end up shooting myself in the face.

Oh yeah "doing well" ... but we'd never finished higher than 5th hadn't we? tinkling around in the Europa League.

Under Redknapp, we've never finished lower than 5th; finishing 4th twice. To that end, he raised the bar that those before him never could. There's incredible competition to finish 4th, and yet Redknapp has achieved the feat twice, and by not spending a great deal of money. Everyone around us ejaculating hundreds of millions on fees and wages, and yet Harry Redknapp spends a pittance - yet achieves objectives.

Look at how acute the risks are here mate: we don't have the headroom to fudge up like other clubs can. If we make a rick, we're fudged and it sets us back years. If most other clubs around us make a balls-up, they just wheel out their financial tanks to sort it.

But hey, maybe Levy thinks football management is a walk in the park? Maybe he thinks any old mug can just rock-up and win football matches? Pity it's taken him so fudging long to find a manager who could actually do that.

I don't think Wriggly's saying Redknapp is a racist, but that Redknapp's conduct whilst doing his job is not the most likable: contradicting himself, openly talking about transfer targets, looking after himself at all costs etc etc. Much in the same way that Suarez's conduct on the field is suspect (diving, cheating etc; the racism thing can be left out of this totally)

I understood the point Wriggly was trying to make in asking Sheik the question (which still seems to be unanswered)

That's a vulgar twisting of what I said and any reasonable person can see it.

Calm down.

The heavy lifting with the squad had been done already and to Harry's credit we signed players in the right positions that did a job for us. But Brad is 40, Scotty is 31 and Ade ain't our player so it's hardly a long term strategy. The rest of the team were at Spurs barring VDV and Harry said he wasn't involved in that one at all!! Look, he's done well, I'm just not having this feat of miracle you wanna hang round his neck. Each to their own.
