The transfer window thread.

I'm no fan of Evans, or of us signing him, mostly on the basis I don't think he is any good.

That said, I think Stephens point is more about getting a tune out of an older player, and the idea maybe some aren't as "past it" as current form suggests

You don't 'know' that.
All this "rebels" talk is nonsense.
Evans is an example of a different manager gets a different outcome.

Everton
Watford
Man u
Arsenal
Leicester

Changing managers, same if not worse results.
It's not the panacea everyone is making it out to be.
Look at the teams currently in the top four or five, other than Leicester all settled squads or managers.

We look like exactly what we are, a team unfamiliar with each other and our roles.

Has that back four yesterday ever played together, had the midfield, and then what about the dynamics between def mid and att.

What under poch has been an evolution has now had to become a revolution.

O
Evans at 31 finally showing some semblance of the hype is not the answer.
Wasn't before and sure as biscuits isn't now.

As for rodgers, he won loads at celtic, everything he could, but regularly got pumped in Europe (as he did with pool) and jump before he was pushed because the dressing room was turning against him.

Id take him in a heartbeat, but we missed that bus. We were abject again yesterday, Glasgow!
We are looking like relegation contenders and fluked, I repeat fluked a win against Sheffield United!!!! yesterday.

Toby is past it, Jan still has it, pretty useless if he has decided not to use it.

We weren't abject, we were poor.
I will also point out again Sheffield are not a bad team, they gave beaten or taken points off a few good teams this season and are fifth in the table on merit.
But they are also what we aren't, a well drilled, settled team with a plan.
The first 30 mins they looked like us from 18 months ago.
We need to establish a settled side and pattern, introducing new players to replace what has been the spine of our side, Toby, Wanyama and eriksen.

Toby can't be any worse than Dier.
I think we are missing a beat here by blaming players ad nauseam.

I'm not blaming players.
I'm not blaming anyone.
We, as a club, had plan, to upgrade the team over a certain time, moving players on and keeping disruption to a minimum.
We nearly got away with it, but this last year a combination of circumstances have stalled the plan.
We are now paying for that and playing catch up.

We do know
Their mentality isn’t enough to get things over the line as BIG players
And Evans didn’t start under previous managers
It was mainly Maguire and their captain whose name I can’t remember

We were outplayed by them for the most part at home.
We were abject and got very lucky!
Sheffield was robbed by VAR.

How were they robbed?
It was offside.
It was close, but it was offside, there is no ambiguity there, offside is offside.

I genuinely thought the passing between the forwards Lo Celso and Ndombele, while he was on, was good. The issue was how easily we gave the ball away from the back which put us under pressure time and time again. Also Aurier's crossing was awful, causing us to repeatedly lose our attacking momentum. So we need a top quality defensive midfielder or centre back and right full back. We need to use the ball better at the back and when the opposing team have it.

A win? Better than the game I watched then, happy days!

agree
But then Poch has to look at why he constantly changes teams too
but people assuming things will get better only need to look at our own history of better managers being replaced by a name and see where that goes ..

Doesn’t a lot of that stem from what options the defence has to pass too
Yesterday the ball was passed to son and dele a few times on our left and they were robbed instantly as they were slow
I also think that people moan about winks passing but because he can take it off the defence and turn it gives them a comfort that maybe sissoko doesn’t

I actually thought aurier was OK crossing, but the runs were to the wrong areas.
We have no cohesion.

I know, injuries and these stupid international breaks aren't helping.

They are slow because its a new team and different patterns.
In the past they haven't had to look, they knew where Eriksen was, or lamela, Wanyama dembele.
They also knew they could trust them, all that needs to be relearnt.
We look like we did in pochs second season.
Sheffield looked like we did in his fourth.
