Levy and MoPo in large-bid-for-player-they-know-they-can't-really-get-due-to-bigger-clubs-offering-more-but-attempt-it-anyway-to-say-"at-least-we-tried"-and-appease-fans shocker

Rabiot?

Its got all the same markers as Moura IMO.

Short contract, not wanted, we are there willing and able - its entirely possible.

We've a long standing interest in him, Im sure he is aware. Poch can try and work his magic. Moura and Aurier offer a buddies POV. If Barca go for DeJong he wont have many other options immediately...

Thats not to say we will certainly get him, but I do believe its possible.

EDIT: This is exactly the unique sort of issue we face. We need top level, Barca/City/PSG type signings, without having their pull or money. Which means we need to be very opportunist, and, quite frankly, lucky.

Poch won't like Rabiot's bad aura. He'll leg it through the back door the second he sees him approaching in real life (Poch actually wrote in his book that he does this).

Sounds really cheap as well.

Can only assume Poch has seen someone in the academy he likes instead? Otherwise seems to be the sort of move we would make

I would like to see how sterling would do in that level and compare.

14 goals in league 1 doesn’t shout out as sign me at all cost.

We have a Sunderland fan at work who said he would be shocked if he makes it in the PL -

Parrott has been training with the first team too, only 16 - I can only assume he has something about him (though that doesnt speak to how ready he might be for the first team!)

14 goals in league 1 as a rookie, some of which are really good strikes, certainly strikes me as potential.

Not sign at all cost, but certainly to peak our interest as a bit of a punt. He could come into your youth set up/team fringes and see how he goes. As we have passed on that it makes me think someone else is already there - be that Sterling or Parrott or whoever.

So are we to assume that if Barca sign De Jong, then they're more likely to cool their interest in Rabiot?

However, if that means PSG don't sign De Jong, are they more likely to hold on to Rabiot.

Given what dejong is going to cost, and the shape of their squad, I dont think its unfair to assume an either/or situation.

So yes, if barca go for de jong they wont want Rabiot.

PSG dont want Rabiot either, or, at least, Rabiot doesnt want them. Hence all the reports of them going for Doucoure, Gueye etc.

Its not a binary thing as youre stating.

He is a contract rebel, wont sign on, so they wont play him. So he is ripe to be sold else theyll lose him for nothing.

And we are in there jockeying for the chance to get him, it would seem

Or Maja can see what happens with Jadon Sancho and decided game time in Europe is better than bench time (once Kane is back) at a big club in the EPL- no matter whether Poch wanted him or not.
