Glenn Hoddle ( genius)

Glenn Hoddle is and always will be my favorite ever spurs player. I hope he recovers well. I am in shock that at 61 he can have such a serious heart attack. He does not seem to drink, smoke and looks fit enough. Its hard to fathom. Also a sad not for me is that on the BBC page they felt the need to include all the stuff in the report about the England Sacking. Bit disrespectful from my point of view.

Your heart can pack up at anytime, certain lifestyles can damage your heart but its all a lottery, we all know people who abuse their body yet have no problems and healthy fit people who just shutdown.

Indeed.

It was lovely to hear him share a bit about how Hoddle had cared for/helped him when he was going through a difficult time.

Experienced this first hand recently when my dad had a heart attack just a few weeks ago, it’s not like he lived a hedonistic lifestyle and his blood pressure and cholesterol counts were always good. Possibly similar to Hoddle he carries a bit of weight and could exercise a little more but you’d certainly see a lot of other people who would appear more likely for it to happen.

He ended up having a stent fitted and thanks to the NHS ambulance service and the good people at John Radcliffe he has been given a second chance.

Glenn Hoddle out of intensive care and talking to his family as England legend continues recovery from heart attack

Glenn Hoddle has been moved out of intensive care as the former England player and manager continues his recovery from a heart attack.

The 61-year-old collapsed at the BT Sport studios, where he was working as a television pundit, on Saturday and was taken to hospital in London.

Hoddle underwent surgery to insert three stents but is now believed to be awake, sitting up in bed and speaking to his family.
He had been appearing live on Robbie Savage's show Saturday Morning Sav on the sports network when he collapsed and cracked his head.

It is understood he received CPR from BT Sport sound supervisor Simon Daniels, who has been credited by witnesses as saving his life.

It is reported that Daniels performed the kiss of life on the former Tottenham, Monaco, Swindon and Chelsea player and that a defibrillator was also used.

He was airlifted to hospital and BT's Saturday afternoon live scores show was cancelled.

Daniels tweeted: 'Just did what was necessary to give him a fighting chance. Thoughts are with his family. It was my training as a Special Constable that paid off.'
Hoddle's spokesman said on Sunday: 'Glenn remains in a serious condition in hospital after suffering a heart attack. He continues to respond well to treatment. The family are grateful to everyone in the football family and beyond who have sent kind messages of support, they are very much appreciated.

'In particular, Glenn and his family would like to publicly thank the BT Sport staff who treated him immediately on set following his collapse.

'Glenn is now in the care of the NHS medical services, who have also been exemplary in helping him and the family during the last 24 hours.

'Doctors have advised the most important thing for Glenn is time to rest. Therefore, his family have reiterated the request for their privacy to be respected during this period.'

A further statement on Monday evening read: 'Glenn and his family are overwhelmed by the best wishes sent from Tottenham Hotspur staff, players, ex-players and most importantly all our tremendous supporters since he was taken ill on Saturday.

'It has been a huge comfort to have your support and memories to lift us all at such a difficult time, so thank you. Let's hope for a win tonight to make Hod smile.'

It is understood that Hoddle's former team-mate Steve Perryman will extend his own sentiments on the pitch at half-time in Monday night's Premier League clash between Spurs and Emirates Marketing Project at Wembley.

England manager Gareth Southgate said: 'My thoughts and prayers are with Glenn Hoddle and those closest to him. Everybody across the game is right behind one of English football's greats and we are willing him to pull through.'

Speaking on Sky Sports before Arsenal's visit to Crystal Palace on Sunday, Graeme Souness said: 'I played against Glenn many times, an absolute class act.

'The last decade I've got to know him quite well through golf and he is genuinely one of life's good guys. He had more talent than the three of us (including fellow pundits Alex Scott and Jamie Redknapp) put together, so much ability.

'I only wish him well. He'll be in great hands where he is. You have to have a bit of courage the way he played football and I'm sure that'll stand him in good stead right now.'
