The rules are too fuzzy and that was always going to be the issue for VAR and it’s turned out exactly that way.

Which means VAR has been a good thing, because it will force some rethinking of the rules.

True. It was just my gut reflex to stick it to var. The handball rule is the main problem.

Indeed. Lineker read out at half time that VAR is meant to be used if there's been a major incident overlooked. That turned out to be a major incident that the ref didn't see. VAR just gave him the chance to watch it and decide.
