It's the Laffer Curve for pies. When will they ever learn.

Anybody else notice randoms in their section all of a sudden since the new standing rules came in? The seat next to me had two people stood in front of it last match and the seat in front was occupied by some lad and his girlfriend. Stewards seem to have stopped checking tickets on the way in. Some might find that standing in the space paid for by somebody else might not be that safe.....

Is it not just ticket share?

While demand to watch Spurs has clearly dropped, the optics look worse here as we publish the number of fans through the turnstiles instead of ‘tickets sold’ as other PL clubs do.

    Yep
    It’s daft really
I saw an article the other day claiming empty seats were a loss for the club
Yet I knew of at least 4 season ticket holders who hadn’t gone to some of those games but of course, had paid already

The only way it is a loss is if each fan spends on average (say) £10 or £20 or whatever when attending a game.

Demand for Cup tickets has clearly waned massively though.... Sales for the Brighton game look pretty woeful so far.

More to do with the timing I think. Not missed a game yet this season but swerving this one* (last train home is 22:00).

*Actually in London for our anniversary but the romance of a Cup game under the lights didn't exactly meet with universal approval.....

Think you have to take into account for that game it being 8pm on a Saturday night with no trains from some areas going north of London and reduced services where they are running. I'm not suggesting it would sell-out otherwise (unless we had some stellar new signings to show-off :)) but there are extenuating circumstances for that example.

Hopefully we will start to see fewer empty seats in general as covid restrictions are lifted, especially if we stay in the mix for top 4.

Strange time for a kick off though
