The Goon Thread - Officially Second In A One Horse Race

This is like shooting fish in a barrel, if the barrel had no water in it.

Surely Arteta has to go now?

Alan Smith is talking about the "bright spots" e.g. Martinelli's return and Smith-Roe's touches... why do Sky employ such biased commentators, so annoying.

I doubt they will sack him unless they fall into the relegation zone

No Martinelli or Danny John-Jules for the game against Chelsea. And probably the next at Brighton.

"Anuvver beatdown, blud".

Or two. Never beaten Brighton since the Seagulls returned to the PL.

They start 2021 at West Bromwich Allardyce. Failure to win that will surely trip the switch to sack Arteta. They'd not have a league game for two weeks and an FA Cup game hosting Saudi Sportswashing Machine to give the new manager time to get settled.

So get your bets in.

I honestly think they will approach Poch

Think it would be a mistake on both parts. In terms of Poch he has demonstrated he is a good coach, with an existing set up of young hungry players, not so sure buying new ones or coaxing a performance out of 30 year old + players on wages that make them unsellable would be an attractive proposition for him. Also realistically top 4 would be a massive improvement and then he’d still get critics for wining less than Arteta. Best he waits for a club that collect trophies in spite of who their manager is, show he can operate in the market with some cash behind him and then he can pick and choose his next couple of jobs post that. His stock is growing the longer he is out of work, doesn’t want to undo that taking on a nigh impossible job that requires a firefighter.
