The Carabao Cup 2018/19

Sarri has been looking to be on the outs for a while, this will only push things along.

While they have the transfer ban to contest and the chase for top 4 still they might stick with him for the time being, but mostly thanks to having other brick to deal with and no real options to replace him.

When a player openly disents like that it really is only a matter of time before the manager is gone.

And their "explanation" today is just hilarious!



And, once again, saw Loftus-Cheek play and wondered what might be if Poch could get his hands on him.
 
Just read that the players can refuse to be subbed, but are they able to choose who takes kicks/plays in goal in a shootout?
Could Sarri have subbed a defender instead and then told Kepa he'd play no part?
 
Ridiculous if true. The manager manages, the players do as they are told.

At least, thats how its supposed to work.

When players take control in such a blatant display of disrespect there is only ever one outcome

I can understand that the choice of who plays is an internal matter for the clubs and the governing bodies have no say on such matters, but feel this situation may see some changes to that position with regards to changes of playing staff once they have been passed to the officials. This could possibly happen again with the inflated ego the players have, I would have thought that players have some sort of clause in their contract which covers following instructions of club management, and refusal to accept selection would be in that. This again shows a club in total disarray and lacking any leadership. I cant agree with people who think that this could lead to many players leaving as few apart from Hazard and Kante would ever pickup the money they are getting at Chelsea and the lifestyle they have in London.
 
It looked to me like Kepa was hamming up his hammy injury somewhat, to disrupt the game and get to pens.

Then Sarri thinks "oh, I'll get a fit keeper on, AND he is good at pens"

And then Kepa is saying "nopes, I was just joking, I am fine, I am fine, leave me on"

And then everyone is made to look an idiot because Sarri thinks Kepa is saying "no I'm not coming off" whereas Kepa is saying "there is no need to change, I was just cheating, wise up old man"

Then Sarri explodes with embarrassment and Italian fury.

This sounds a little too much like you’ve thought about this and applied some common sense to me..

It was really funny the way Kepa refused to obey Sarri's instructions to come off. It shows that Chelsea are always the drama queens of world football !:D

Felt really bitter and envy looking at the way Emirates Marketing Project celebrated winning the Carabao Cup. This is why we badly need to win a trophy ! y You can only get emotions like that by winning a trophy, not by finishing in top 4 or playing in the CL ! Can't believe it has been more than 10 years since we last win a trophy, the Carling Cup in 2008. Can still remember how all the players celebrated when we won that trophy ! Hope we can win a trophy soon !

The whole thing looked planned to me to get a penalty specialist on, it was the common sense thing to do, a master stroke even, to leave 1 remaining sub in your back pocket to be able to do this,.... but then Kepa refused to come off and it became apparent they didn’t have a clue what they were doing. Amateurs!
