I'll be really disappointed to see him go just because I think there is a player in there who just hasn't had a good run of it. But he's been here 2 years now and nothings happened. It's rare a player really kicks on at that age after that long. It's similar to how I feel about GLC and how I felt about Ndombele up to a few months ago. Heart ruling my head I think.

If Conte and Paratici think it's best he's gone, so be it.

I take it we've scouted thru the whole Ajax squad in case there is someone we might like to take?

I like Noussair Mazraoui a lot. He's out of contract in the summer and would be a good fit for us.

If we can get 20 mil £ then sell him. At least he can pay for the Traore deal

Good to hear Contes latest comments, doesn’t sound like he’s given up on him.

Conte played down the chances of him leaving, saying: 'Bergwijn, he knows very well what I think about him. I consider him a player that can play all the three roles, as a No 9 and No 10.

'In my period at Tottenham, he was injured for a long time. But I showed him that when he is in a good physical condition I gave him a chance. He is a Tottenham player and he is very close to coming back.

'After the game with Chelsea he can start a training session. I can count on him. He is a player with different characteristics than Harry, Son and Moura, he is a player we don’t have in our squad.'

Good news if he means it, there is a player in there if he can stay fit.

Yes, but we've a habit of carrying injury prone players for too long. GLC, Bergwijn, Sess and N'Dombele (mainly lack of fitness) all miss a lot of games though injury.
We need to cut our loses and get players that can play when needed. Sess is the only one I'd persevere with out of those 4 at this stage.

We seem to be the ones that break them too, none of those players were seen as injury worries at their previous clubs.

Sess had a bad hamstring injury when he was at Fulham and injuries while on loan at Hoffenheim. Stevie had a number of minor injuries when at PSV, pretty similar to what he's had since joining us.

Conte had the same impression a lot of us have: that Bergwijn has technique. And if he gets into a rhythm/ gets his confidence up, he will do well.

But Conte also appreciates that his comments help increase his price. It’s clever as it will bolster the players confidence and help with negotiation too. All bases covered, whatever happens.

Although totally different Bergwjin somehow reminds me of Defoe. A player who, when in his grove is amazing. But when off it and low on confidence looks lost. As JD got older he got better and better. But when Bergwjins age his form was erratic and his confidence was fragile. You can see Bergwjin could zip around a defender and hit a true shot into the corner of the net. It is there. But he has no rhythm or confidence. He needs to get into a groove of scoring regularly to really develop. And for that reason really, I think we should probably sell him as he won’t get the time on the pitch and patience with us. Ultimately I think Conte wants to play him in some of these upcoming games and then convert him into cash to be spent on a more robust striker. It’s a shame but it’s a sign of where we are now. If we were a mid table side we should keep him. If we aspire to more we need to convert some decent squad players into first team starters.

Well obviously.... that would go for any player we were selling just as we would want to pay as little as possible for any player that we were signing.

I was just commenting that as Ajax's (apparent) offer is above his book value and therefore would show as a profit then Levy probably wouldn't block the sale.

He would if he thought he could get more or bergwijns value would go up. The manager and paratici would also have a say. Is there a player that we think we could get for the money that would improve the team? Is he a major part of contes team?

Not saying his book value will have no impact on levy's thinking, just that it's a lot more complicated.

For ndombele, if someone came in with a bid above or around his book value though. I'm sure we'd sell.

The gaffer certainly sounds happier to keep Bergwijn around than Ndombele.

Also sees him as a number 9 and 10. Which was interesting.

Ajax are selling Neres so wouldn't be a shock for an increased bid for Stevie to come through very soon

Really not sure about selling Stevie, but obviously trust Conte.

We'd arguably need 2 forwards in in this window if he goes if we're playing 3 up top.

Even with two up top, having Kane, Son, Moura and Gil feels light

Steve seems a bit too shy, not arrogant enough, not enough belief in himself to really show us his full talent. Maybe he needs to grow for a couple of years. He has all the tools but doesn't seem to be THE MAN when he plays, more of an assistant caretaker to THE MAN.
    Plus he is never fit.

I agree totally with your view of Bergywyn... He never looks happy and usually looks anxious..

He needs a bit of Brian Clough man management... "Look son, I don't care how you play today, as long as you put the effort in, but I want to see you smiling all the time... Just enjoy it and let me worry about the result"... Or something like that
