Sandro - Beast

Re: Sandro - Legend

He had the operation in January if my memory serves correctly. Standard ACL recovery time is between 8 and 10 months, sometimes a little more, which sees him back around the October mark. I think that sounds about right.

Top athletes usually has a Shorter recovery than us normal People. This is also because of their massive team of Medical specialists available:)

You could well be right. Also, that's all they do all day. Mugs like me have to go to work!

Re: Sandro - Legend

Im about 3,5 mnths in. No complications, but quite stiff and it can be painful around my patella when i wake up. I try to do some sessions on the bike at the gym to loosen up before i work out.

What about you?

Going ok. Six and a bit months post op now. I get a bit of patella pain when I'm doing squats and lunges, but taping it seems to be helping. Hopefully I'll be able to run in a couple of weeks. Cannot wait for that moment \o/

Working on his hamstrings which is good to see because thats the weakest point post knee reconstruction due to the replacement tendon graft coming from the hamstring. That's no small amount of weights either!

Re: Sandro - Legend

I don't think he'll be back for the start of the season.. bench maybe.

Personally I think we'll line up with the same formation as last season but with Paulinho instead of Sandro partnering Dembele.

Re: Sandro - Legend

How is Sandro's recovery from his injury going?
Is he likely to miss the start of the season?

I think he's got a great chance of being fully fit for the new season.

We'll have a much better idea during the Asia Trophy and other friendlies.

Re: Sandro - Legend

Andre's praise for Sandro and Younes

Andre Villas-Boas paid tribute to Younes Kaboul and Sandro after their recovery from long-term injury.

Central defender Younes has played a full part in pre-season training after being sidelined for the best part of a year with a knee injury and then a muscle problem on his return at the end of last season.

Midfielder Sandro is in his final stage of recovery after a sustaining a serious knee injury against QPR in January and will join the squad again in training next week. He will then travel out with the squad for the Barclays Asia Trophy in Hong Kong.

“It’s a very good start to pre-season for both players,” reported Andre on Friday.

“It’s great for Younes after a year out to come back to training and have double sessions with no problems.

“Sandro hit six months last week (he was injured on January 12) and we are on plan, he’s made an excellent recovery and we’re very happy with him.

“One more week and he’ll join the group and he will also join us for full training in Hong Kong.”

Cheers for the update on these two. Big characters these two and although injuries suck they would at last felt some love from us supporters during their recoveries.

Hardyards for hardyids.
