Ridiculous. We have now have 3 old CBs, 2 old GKs, one loanee CF and one old CF

Will need lots of signings this summer which is ridiculous given that stability has been one of our strengths

No idea why we signed him, it makes me think that the club is in trouble financially if the likes of QPR, Fulham and Bolton are all out there splashing the cash whilst we settle for 2 players, neither of whom any of us wanted, who are too old and cost nothing. We made a transfer profit in the August window, we made a transfer profit in the January window... how long before we enter administration and get deducted ten points?

I think that justifies the signing, no point cutting short his footballing education there just to play 1 in 5 games....(my bad if that's what you meant by your post)

Welcome to Spurs Ryan. Please disregard all negative comments on the site. We will be 100% behind you once you put on the shirt. You have shown throughout your career that your effort and commitment cannot be questioned. You were my favorite player at DC United. Such a good reward to be finally playing at a top club at the end of your career.

Could the lack of transfer activity be partly because of the unknown result of the Redknapp trial? Should Redknapp be given time in prison, and so consequently replaced as Spurs manager, we perhaps wouldn't want signings that the new manager would not want at the club.

I'm speculating this as the only other player that we were apparently close to bringing in was Krasic who would also have been a loan signing and so consequently have cost nothing.

I really don't understand how posters on here can say this is a 'brick signing' etc etc when they don't know the circumstances behind the deal. Bassong might not have wanted to play for this club and caused a rift in the dressing room - leaving the management with the issue of bringing a new player in. There might not have been many available for a reasonable price, and the chairman might not have wanted to spend a lot of money on a player that might not been scouted properly/may not work out to the desired level.

No point bringing the likes of Caulker back from loan when he would hardly play anyway - he's doing well over there and will hopefully become another figure like Walker who spent a good time at another club to then shine at Spurs.

    This 100%.

Think of him what you will but he's going to Spurs now and we should get behind him. No point slagging him off like before Parker came here and be left with egg on our faces.

we are after a different standard of player to QPR Fulham and Bolton are - the type of players that we need for long term progression aren't gonna be available in the january window - the best we can do in our position - not stinking rich (like our competitors, city, chelsea) and without the guarantee of champions league football is buy solid seasoned pro's who are gonna offer something in the short term. leave the important buys till the summer when other clubs are prepared to let their 'star' players leave. we now have solid cover for Adebayor and an extra experienced head for cover at the back - something which is more important for the second half of the season than potential. wehave a great starting XI - we don't need to disrupt that, we need to make sure we have competent back up - which these two signings go some way to do(would have liked an extra option to Bale and Lennon on the wings

Why do people keep calling him Nelson? Hasn't anyone been watching the PL for the last decade?

Anyway, not keen on this tbh, but it'll cost nothing, so fudge it.

    good to have you Nelson.

I only see this as a positive signing. Seen it all, got plenty of experience, and surely cheap.

You're probably right! We haven't spent much cash over recent years yet we've managed to increase our league position gradually! Yet, if/when Levy announces that we're starting to build the new stadium because of such economical balance the same posters that wanted us to bring in expensive players will praise him.

I'll back the chairman and manager that have built us such a great squad. For all we know Corluka and Bassong could have said to Harry 'look, I'm out in january and if I stay I'm not going to play' - how can anyone on this site know the inner workings of the club to such a level? fudging tripes.

My criticism isn't about Nelson himself, well in part I guess it is, but it is more to do with the lack of ambition and investment that has been shown at the club within the last couple of seasons. Yes, we have pushed to a higher level in terms of finishing higher in the league, looking well on course for another CL finish. Yes, we are playing some dazzling football that makes us one of the best footballing sides to watch in England... but, over the last few seasons the only player that really capatilises on our advances in the league is Van Der Vaart. We have signed players more because they fill a gap and they will do, than signing players because they are top notch and amongst the best in their position.

We need a top striker who can score regularly and yet we still don't have one. We need a top centre back who can play more often than King as it's unlikely that King will be able to keep going long term and yet we still don't have one. We need a reserve left back to provide cover for Assou-Ekotto and yet, we still don't have one. We don't seem to be answering the weaknesses in our squad and we don't actually look realistically that we are going to sign anyone who will actually lift the level of the club in terms of being a top talent.

I am pleased with how far we are coming but I can't help but think that we are failing to build on our progress. We are not showing ambition which will attract other players or keep Modric and Bale at the club transfer wise. I understand that transfers are only part of it but long term, if we want to keep being successful then surely success in the transfer market will play an important part of the success in competitions.

Feeling frustrated that we didn't get a marquee signing and that it looks like the club could be in trouble financially.
