** OMT Tottenham Hotspur V Liverpool **

The best thing is we can now watch the rest of the games and maybe enjoy them. The last few years every game has been a must win or the universe implodes, at least now we have nothing to lose. We can try a few youth players, different tactics etc. I am sure the performance of the crowd and the players will pick up now we have no pressure on us and we might even play some football that is worth watching.

I don't think It's unreasonable to say that all that really matters for Levy is the bottom line.
Instead of moaning year after heartbreaking year, ****in do something about it. Hit him in the pocket.
The club is a shambles, I know it won't happen, but boycot a game. The disrespect the players showed for the fans, the history, the shirt is unacceptable and we deserve better. We have nothing left to play for this season, don't go!
I'm sure there are many that would say
support through thick and thin, but It's asimilar argument used against people who oppose wars, unpatriotic when the opposite is true, oppose a government that is dragging your country through the gutter then the most patriotic thing you can do is oppose.
I feel this way about spurs, so many missed opportunities and Levy needs a proper kick in the ass.
We pay top dollar and I really am sick of having the **** taken out of me.
Ok rant over, but it really is two seasons very poor team performances and we deserve better.

The best thing about today seriously is the humour from Twitter today. It was frigging hilarious at times.

After the cr*p I've heard in the ground, people I've spoken to, things I've read on here and social media in general, I am fast losing my patience with other Spurs fans, coupled with the head scratching decisions made by the club at every single level, I have found myself falling out of love with it all at times.

But sometimes, like today, in adversity, it kinda rekindles your love a little when you see fans take it on the chin, take the p*** out of ourselves and just have a bit of a laugh.

Bigger things in life then to stress about this, yea we're **** against the top clubs right now, but it's still our club and we'll come good again eventually. And if not, then so be it. TTID

And there is only one thing worse than the scum winning the league and that's Liverpool. I've got a horrible feeling they will do it. Nobody has seemed to want to win it all season, but they're getting stronger and stronger, someone make i stop, PLEASE!!

Depressingly predictable today.

We fans tried our best, we sung our hearts out at times, but the players showed absolutely no bottle. Tim was busy trying to make it the Sherwood Show again, don't think I saw him go to the dugout once during the game.

Once we gave the ball away cheaply from kick-off, any small lingering hope I had disappeared. Then they got the lead and the long day began.

No tactical plan, no strategy, no motivation, no inspiration, no fight, no bottle.

Liverpool better than us in every department, and easy to see why they are where they are. But they were actually better in the 0-5, they almost took pity on us today at times and just didn't bother looking for a fifth goal. I'm sure we would have happily given them it if they wished.

Great respect between the two sets of fans. Two proper clubs, I hope they go on to win the league and break up the Arab and Russian monopoly this season.

As for us, season over, but in truth it has been for a while and today just confirmed it.

I know nobody is interested in a defence of Sherwood, but none of those are down to tactics, selection or formation.

Also, we had more shots then them 15 to 11.

They had 5 shots on target, and scored 4 goals.

It's just this hideous season - everything imaginable just goes wrong over and over and over again.

It's down to training us to play at a higher tempo or pressing Liverpool harder. We don't train right and we don't prepare for the opposition. It's like just go out there, run around a bit and do what you do...

Before the game I figured we'd lose 5-0. But yes, if Pool had needed to score 8, they would have done so. Not sure about 'every department'. Our keeper is better. The biggest difference is up front. Soldado, who everyone apparently feels sorry for, is limited and exposed. Obviously he can play, but his attributes - whatever they are - aren't currently suited to this team/system. Going in, you could bet the house he'd be a peripheral figure today...and yet somehow look good doing it with 'some nice touches and link up play'. Whereas, Liverpools front line dont need great service. They can pick it up in their own half and...you know the rest.

Mate,

I have to seriously say, today's 'performance' (or lack of) was indefensible…you have to wonder why so many individual errors keep on occurring? There is something fundamentally broken at this point. As for '15 shots' it just underscores the fact that statistics mean nothing…I also don't believe they only had 5 shots on target; didn't Lloris save at least three, two of them going within the woodwork without his help?

Yeah, we were outplayed throughout. We were outclassed in every area of the pitch.

And I even didn't think Liverpool were all that good, we just made it very easy for them. Of course the individual errors don't help, but it shouldn't be used to hide some of the other problems.

I just think that it's beyond reasonable doubt that this side was (once again) woefully underprepared. Rose keeps on doing insanely stupid things! He nearly got done by Sturridge in his own 6 yard box with a stupid pass!!!!! So how many times must he

a) be picked
b) not be drilled properly on WTF to do?

Either way, it's a decision which should've been made months ago.

As for choosing Sigurdsson, well…the guy was awful, simply awful, didn't jockey properly, didn't tackle, didn't pass properly, in fact he had a match which made prime-time Spurs Jason Dozzell's worst seem like ****ing Zidane. Who's fault is that? What was he supposed to be doing? And why didn't he even try to do it properly, with some spirit? These players are broken. Lennon looks absolutely spun out of anything resembling form, Chadli's trying, Kaboul looked like he was on ketamine, Daws was Daws and his confidence must be shattered too which makes it even worse...

I felt sorry for Soldado and Bentaleb today as well as Naughton, all of whom gave it their best and looked hurt/disgusted (Bentaleb's face was like thunder)…Soldado in particular must wonder WTF is going on. I know I do.

Spot on again.

We were given a lesson on how to play as a team, sadly I think it's a lesson we won't learn much from at this stage at least.

We tried sitting back at times, but Liverpool still got in behind us with relative ease. We tried pressing high up the pitch at times, but Liverpool still played through our pressure almost effortlessly. With players like Skrtel and Flannagan at the back no less. We were the complete antithesis of a team defending as a unit. Going forward there was little to no movement, players stood around watching the man on the ball. Again, we didn't look like a unit, we didn't look like a team, we looked like 11 individual players. Liverpool was the opposite, and as outplayed as we got I really think they could have punished us a lot more than they did if they'd felt like it.

I wonder if we had played differently if were playing first at half 5 on a saturday night and the goons and everton on the Sunday, there was no excuse how we played yesterday but knowing Everton had just won 10 minutes before we started to play wasn't a great incentive to the players.........#clutchingatstraws.

Brilliant. made me giggle. Sums up Kaboul's performance brilliantly!

I think those 2 paras are contradictory.

Were we outplayed, or did we make it easy for an ordinary Liverpool? I mean, those two things are flipsides of the same coin in a way, but only one of them is causative while the other is a by-product. Which is which?

My honest opinion is that it's very much the latter - we gave the game away and Liverpool only had to show up.

People are saying we lost because of tactics/formation but I think that's nonsense. We didn't even get to see what our tactics were because we were on the back-foot and mentally wobbling from the first minute, and then in full-on damage limitation mode from the 25th minute. Any tactical plan that was there was drowned out in the chaos.

People keep saying things like "With no DM's we didn't have a chance" and "our high line did for us"...despite the fact there's no evidence either of those things were where the problem lay. Certainly none of their goals came from a DM or high line issue (I know some are saying Coutinho's goal was about a DM, but I disagree since we had ample numbers of white shirts covering - watch the goal again and you'll see that lack of bodies was not the issue, so an extra DM would not have solved the problem.)

I basically reject all this tactical gobbledegook about yesterday. It simply wasn't relevant as it turned out.

We lost IMO because our players went out with unacceptable mental attitudes. If Sherwood is to blame for that, so be it. Lloris knows he has other offers, Verts is mentally all over the shop, Kaboul's mojo is totally gone after so long out, our FB's are like startled kids, Siggy is kinda weak in lots of ways, Lennon's head looks shot along with his form, Soldado's head we know must be totally fried. That's 8 of the starting 11 with their heads up their holes.

Bentaleb and Chadli looked to have good mental attitudes yesterday, and Eriksen gets by because I don't think he's the sharpest tool in the box and is probably too young to be wracked by self doubt like Lennon or Soldado.

Yesterday's problems were mental, not tactical.

What struck me most about yesterday's 'effort' was just how one paced and lacking in power and athleticism our players were.

Erikson. One paced. Carthorse slow and too easily knocked off the ball.
Rose. Ditto. Weak on the ball.
Siggurdson. One paced.
Chadli One paced.
Naughton. Physically dominated and slow.

Isn't that the managers job though?

http://www.football365.com/winners-losers/9242181/W-L-Sherwood-Gets-Both-Barrels

A total of 45% of the goals Spurs have conceded this season have been due to individual error or own goal. The occasional gaffe can be put down to individual shortcomings, but complaints over consistent mistakes should be laid at the door of the manager. You can't just keep shrugging your shoulders when stupid mistakes keep being made, because your job is to address that and effect a change.

But a better one might have.

I don't really know what everyone is talking about with the high line though, it's like it's become the fashionable thing to criticise him on. We played deeper than we have in the past and we didn't press the way we have in the past. Now whether that was TS trying to set us up to hit them on the counter I don't know, but aside from that some things that do worry me;

1. The players in the tunnel before the game. They didn't look like they were lined up to go and play a game of football. They've given up.
2. His post match comments, particularly the one about not watching the 5-0 defeat back again before the game.

Villas-Boas and Sherwood both managed Spurs for 16 league games this season, 1 OG a piece (Sandro at the Ethihad and Kaboul at Anfield) but Sherwood has overseen more defensive errors and a higher proportion of them have been punished with a goal conceded (11 of 15 versus 6 of 11).

Last season Spurs committed a total of 29 errors but only 8 resulted in a goal being conceded.
