First series was fun enough, havent watched the second yet.

Its not great, but its worth watching if you like that sort of thing.

How does this sequel compare to the original series from the 1980s?

I watched Hunter Killer recently and then The Hunt for Red October the other night, so maybe some more serious submarine drama is in order!

Original was a film , This is a series so padded out more with added story’s on the shore.

Worth a watch . Personally enjoyed it. Must of been nerve shredding serving on them boats.

The original was actually a tv series as well - with a film version which gained more popularity

Wiki: It has been exhibited both as a theatrical release and as a TV miniseries (1985), in several different home video versions of various running times, and in a director's cut version supervised by Petersen in 1997.

Yeah indeed, I couldnt imagine sitting through 10 hours or so of a mini series. Reckon I’d go claustrophobic in my own lounge!!

I’ve not really understood any of it yet! :D

S2 was ok, I’d still watch in sequence to be honest.

Why are everyone saying true detective season 3 is all that? It's boring as hell, the characters are lame, the acting is brick, and the story is like its for teenagers, ffs. On episode 6, and it's just nothing so far. When is it going to pick up?

Don’t worry, no spoilers from me.

    I didn’t even watch S3.

Not after I read that review of the crap ending where they killed the main guys off with 1 episode to go. Seemed a waste of time to me!

If you like thrillers I recommend Tom Clancy's Jack Ryan and Condor, two excellent shows
