Nothing so obvious. The contract length will just correlate to the ticket price, little more.
But let's not get carried away. Harry is a good lad. So let's not put the cart before the horse!

I’m pretty sure Fergie cropped up a lot on message boards when he was initially replaced.

The slight issue with judging the end Poch’s reign is for the same reason we were not awarded the title for being the best team over a calendar year or two seasons, we were also not omitted from the CL for a poor run in when we reached the final. I do understand why the trajectory was a concern and led to his sacking.

As much as it pains me as I’ve not been confident he is the right fit or is showing progress with our ability to control games, whilst Mourinho has a mathematical chance of top 4 there remains the chance this season ends up being deemed a successful one. But if he doesn’t achieve this I think it’s only fair to compare him to his predecessor who delivered top 4 finishes with a limited transfer budget and the challenge of playing at Wembley.
Wanting to debate his sacking or calling for Poch’s return isn’t the answer but his tenure is a reasonable yardstick for a higher paid more experienced immediate successor.

Managers will always be measured against their predecessor and I'd imagine at United everyone who has come after Fergie has been measured against him

See David Moyes who is a good coach in his own right and was unfairly ridiculed. It can be a thankless task taking over from someone who created a dynasty and who left knowing the squad needed a refresh(sound familiar).....

thats fair, i am guilty of that. Like a bad break up and you pining for the girl that it didn't work out with. I miss him. i miss his face. i miss his smile.

What i will say, is i also fully back Jose and WANT him to succeed. In the old 'football chat' with friends on WhatsApp, have 2 ST holders at Man U, one is super pro Jose, the other more reserved and both gave good info. But the fact is, the worry when we got him in is that he was yesterday's man. He'll go down as one of the all time great managers, but the facts speak for themselves that he was on a decline and football, the Klopp, Peps and Poch's of the world have moved football to a new frontier.

Have seen nothing to suggest that assertion is wrong.

Confirmation bias. MouMou is very intelligent, he knows the latest thinking in football.
I think he has done fairly poorly overall, but he knows enough about football to instil the latest thinking OR bring someone young in to instil the latest thinking, should he wish to.

TBF though he won trophies at United on his decline that they haven’t got near to since (they should in theory walk the europa now)
And that was in a period where Poch had us in the ascendancy

He was also not backed at United
They roostered up the window they panicked in and only brought Fellaini

This is a great point, however the humility/lack of will either heighten or soften the situation. I don't think any Utd supporters bear Moyes ill-will because he has always been a class act.

I think it is coming from all angles, not just a few.

Looking forward (as this thread is intended to) I remain in favor of a Nagelsmann, however fear that the profile and necessary presence/immediacy our club needs right now might yet see an Allegri. But there is no doubt we'd be better off with a Nagelsmann, who can build around the established core star players we haver and probably achieve top 4 in his first season with three strategic buys and some shedding.

So, who do we think it'll be? It won't be Nagelsmann. He's going to Bayern. Flick is favourite to replace Löw as national coach, and Bayern want Nagelsmann. So there is zero chance he'll come here when Bayern is calling.
