    I think Gary is somewhat missing the point.

    Whether a football club (or any organisation) should be encouraging gambling is a different discussion. Not an unworthy one, but it's not the same scenario as that under which Trippier has been banned.

    Having known a professional turf accountant, and seeing behind the curtains of that world, I don't have an issue with what Tripper did, he didn't bet himself, and he didn't lie about anything.

    is there really a difference between a customer putting a bet on something they know will happen and a bookie taking a bet on something they know won't happen?
