Surprised to hear that tiny Tom Carroll was the best singer at Swansea!

Maybe he also put in a good word for Spurs!

Have a count of the amount of times Bale starts a sentence with “yeah, no....”

And hopefully Kyle Naughton won’t continue to be the best RB he’s ever played alongside for much longer!

Jesus is Carol, Naughton and Nathan Dyer still at Swansea? No wonder they have not come back up again.

Are any of the other new signings on big money? No argument that the £200k(ish) that we're paying Bale is a lot for us.

I was agreeing with you about one of the reasons why Dier is preferred.

He ain’t quick but he is a genuine defender
The only thing I’ll say about Skriniar is we have no idea how he would settle here
Players tend to get better rated when you don’t play them or have them... Grealish is now England’s saviour for example and Skriniar for I think that I am a better football fan than the rest of you is ours which is mental IMO
The guys a quality player but we may have just signed one in Rodon
Of all our signings he is the most unknown but arguably the one with the biggest point to prove

Agree. That does appear to be the way in football with pundits and fans.

Think Jose is obviously looking for the 'die for the shirt' defender, and Dier obviously ticks that box, vocally and attitude wise, but as Jose's previous versions of this have shown, you have to be able to play the game as well. Rodon definitely looks in that mould, but of course the prem is a big step up.

Overall there is still an assessment to be made. Quality wise the jury is still out on Dier and Sanchez.
Dier has an advantage because Jose likes him and he is versatile. If another CB (Skriniar) comes in (Jan or summer) I can easily see Sanchez going next summer if he has another average (or up and down) season, as he is worth a decent fee. Toby (although slow) is experienced and has very little value so may as well be a 3rd 4th choice until his contract expires. Tanganga and Rodon are young so Toby can help them (along with Ledley) and hopefully they'll be another year along by next season and in the fight for a starting place.

Agree about Lloris' form, however need to remember that he turns 34 this year and our back-up isn't rock solid - means that if we get to the season when Hugo's form/ability drops, then it becomes a real problem. And a dodgy keeper is harder to mask over than an outfield position. personally I think it would be risky hanging on for a 2 years to get that successor in. Agree though that CB also very high, probably top, priority

Sanchez risks being the new Antony Gardner:
    - 6 foot 5, but weighs about 8 stone
    - Strong as a 12 year old
    - Rubbish on the ball
    - 1 excellent season but then not dropping back to a lower level of normal form

Agree that I could see him going in the next 12-24 months

A decent young keeper would be on my list for next summer

Doherty Regulion and Hojberg must be on first team level wages you'd have to assume. Add Bale to that and the fact no big earners have departed then it's a considerable increase

Holy mother of lords, what an accent! Even though I know he was saying "Rodon" when pronouncing his name, I just couldn't hear it. Sounded like "Lauren" to me. :p
Anyways - welcome, Joe! Looks like a proper baller in the making.

It'd be interesting to see what Doherty, Reguilon and Hojbjerg are on compared to Eriksen, Verts and Wanyama.

With Dier and Tanganga out at the moment forcing Sanchez and Toby to play both tomorrow and against lask, I think Rodon could be in line for his debut away at burnley town a week on monday.
