I was at the Uruguay game for opening ceremony of 66 World cup absolute terrible game, but I never learned and went to see France v Uruguay at White City a few days later, cant remember score. Jim wasnt at his best in tournament, still suffering from effects of jaundice but Ramseys robots didnt really play to his strengths.

He also got injured against France in the group game ( 14 stitches in his leg) which forced him out of the Q Final game and he never got back into the side after that. But as you say the illness was still affecting him.
 
I note, apart from the incredible goal, stuff thrown on the pitch and grown men hugging in 1965 !
