I said a couple of seasons ago that they are the most attractive investment for someone wanting a football club, but blind prejudice had me ridiculed. Great location in London, in the Premeir League, big fan base in surrounding area. In the right hands they could go big.

Easy fix, owners will sell asap, who cares about promises made by previous governments and powerless quangos?

It’s not theirs to sell is it, they signed a 99 year lease.
IIRC correctly Levy got a clause written in it to say the running track has to remain, as that was the main blocker to our plan to level it and provide a separate athletics facility.

Whilst they have prem football I think there is enough demand for neutrals / families who want to see cheap prem football on demand, but if they go down they’ll lose them having gone a log way towards alienating their loyal fan base too.

I'm aware West Ham dont own the stadium but the owners will sell, Levy's agreement will be blown away in the nation interest, their current owners have alienated the fans not the club, they will always support the club, that's the way football works. A rich buyer willing to invest could easily improve the team. It's something people can't accept as they dislike certain teams and cant see beyond that. We have a great stadium in a rundown district with limited transport support, their stadium is in a better location, that's why Levy wanted it.

Apologies, misinterpreted the owners you were referring too.
So your suggesting the current owners sell the stadium to new West Ham owners, then level it and rebuild? It’s not a case of my dislike of West Ham, I just think that’s quite an undertaking for new owners to invest so much on infrastructure even before I understand the legal position on selling the stadium, then them having to play away for a couple of years, especially given how difficult it is to get the CL riches with the top 6 plus wolves and Everton looking to pull away.
I don’t disagree that in terms of loyalty they have a very solid base, but in ground with no atmosphere or tradition, I think their appetite will diminish if the product is championship football, perhaps not so if they are competing immediately for a promotion. I witnessed this first hand when I went to most of our Wembley games and that was when we were still pretty decent and had CL football!
Maybe it is a little wishful thinking but I think the stadium move has tied them up in a way that makes them less attractive to an investor because they are so restricted by the lease.

if I’m wrong and they could sell it, how much do you think it would go for? Could it be more attractive as an O2 style multi purpose entertainment value using the existing shell instead?

I think you’re right with Levy, the opportunity with the transport infrastructure and not having to leave WHL until it was ready was tempting and I’m not convinced it was down to jolt Haringey into action. I’m pleased with how it worked out through!

building a PL stadium in London is going to cost 600m, at the rumoured price, thats a 1bn spend to get the club on an even footing with us/arse/Chelsea right?

    sounds prohibitive

I think the stadium could be upgraded in stages, fans will put up with anything if the team are producing on the field.

Yeh and based on having to do that you wouldn't pay a premium for what is a good idea without anything solid like owning the ground where they are now
