Air source heat pumps

We're building a house at the moment and we're off the grid so we were going to get an oil tank with a combi boiler. We're looking at the option of getting a air source heat pump instead, has anyone got any experience of them?

I know a little. The water temperature they produce is quite low so it is suitable for underfloor heating which runs at a constant low heat. You might need a boiler too. I might be starting into a new build soon myself so my head is wrecked with this stuff.

Yes there is so much to think about.

We having underfloor heating downstairs so it should be good for that. Curious what the noise level would be like and if it does actually work out cheaper to run.

How much is drilling for a water to water system? What's the cost of oil vs electricity?

I chucked out my oil tank and installed an air to air heater. With a newly renovated house with 8 inches of insulation in walls, 10 in ceiling, not much heat get lost.
Also have a wood oven which produces 5 kw+ for those below -10 Celsius winter days.

Dont bother splashing the cash if you only need extra heating for a month or two, buy some good woolen loafers instead [emoji3]
