Maradona only scored once for Newell’s Old Boy’s, Messi would have known that, he also played for Barca, albeit a lot less successfully than Messi. I seriously wonder if Messi recreated Maradona’s goal. He did get booked as well it seems.

Messi is obviously brilliant and capable of such things, but he's scored pretty much that exact goal 200 times before.

Maradona suffered no worse on that score than Lineker, so i don't see the point.

the point is that all players try to get away with stuff all the time

Maradona not telling the ref he'd handled it was no different to Hurst not telling the ref it hadn't gone in

The problem with that analysis,as I have already stated is that Hurst would not have known that it didn''t go in and he didn't deliberately hit the cross bar for the ball to come down on the line to claim a goal.

Really sad news. Loved his commentary on all the big tournaments over the years - and loved Pro-Celebrity Golf back in the day.

Very sad. I could have listened to him all day. Always came away from watching the BBC golf happier about life and dying to get out on the course. Alliss was the main reason for that.

That's weird, I thought Rossi lead Italy to the 1982 World Cup title in 1997, I'm glad they clarified that.
