**** Tottenham v Poocastle ****

I'm actually less bothered about Chelsea. Yes, they're classless scum (and always will be), but it was one mega-rich individual who bought their club and pumped money into it. That's a time-honoured way to get ahead in football, dating back to the very start of the professional game. For those who don't believe football existed before 1992, see Blackburn Rovers.

However, the idea of corrupt countries using football clubs as their personal fiefdom, basically to market away their shocking human rights records, unsettles me. Emirates Marketing Project and PSG have basically cheated their way to success -- completely ignoring FFP through clever accountants and smart legal teams. Saudi Sportswashing Machine are about to go the same way.

Finance rules are there to keep the rich at the top, they don't see it as cheating just winning by using their unlimited assets. Fair play and sportsmanship has no place in most professional "sport".

I still want us to go three at the back and play our natural wing backs for width down the flanks.

I firmly believe it is the formation which suits the players we have the best.

You don't think Abramovich was the original "Sportswasher"?

He wanted the UK as a bolthole and thought that buying a football club was an entree to some kind of establishment. It’s definitely different, and seedier, when dystopic regimes buy that kind of respectability.

Following a number of reports regarding the health of our players, the Club would like provide clarity to events of the past 48 hours.

After further analysis following Premier League protocol, two players – whose names will not be disclosed due to medical confidentiality – returned false positive tests for COVID-19 on Friday after returning from international duty.

You know, I'm not sure. It was a long time ago. I didn't mind Emirates Marketing Project so much at the time, probably because I live in Manchester and know a lot of their fans who'd stuck with them to the third division and back.

Did Abramovich gain as much as the Gulf states get out of their football club ownership? I mean, he was never going to get any tourist income, or use Chelsea as a springboard to get to host major sporting events.

Maybe I'm just confused by it all. I don't like it. And I'd like to think that I'd put an asterisk by any trophies won by Spurs if it was us who were being taken over...but would I really?

I think what’s clear since the takeover is that plenty (or maybe the more vocal?) of spurs fans on here wouldn’t care who took over as long as they spent billions more than we make.

Not for me thank you very much, would just be hollow victories. I know a few Chelsea fans and they all prefer pre Roman era, but maybe it’s an age thing? (Should be pre Prem era really as Chelsea almost went out of business due to the over spending.)

What makes you think the Chelsea owner is ok? To get to where he is he must have had his hands in some dirty dealings, is basically spending money that belongs to the Russian people and he supports Putin, a massive threat to western democracy, which keeps him and his assets safe. What Chelsea have, done though is a very clever laundering job so now people don’t see them in the same way as the other bank rolled clubs. I’m sure City will get there eventually.

Amen to that.

I also know Chelsea fans who say they prefer pre-Roman but are nonetheless happy when their team is winning. I am sure most of us would come round to that. It’s better than mid table especially as more and more clubs are bank rolled. The situation in Paris is slightly different as they are really so far ahead resources wise.

I think (thinking of a modern day “baddy”) Trump could take over and we’d be more happy if we won rather than lost but it’s not much of a statement if ultimately you prefer pre Trump times win or lose?

I mean to say, Saudi Arabia could have taken over Spurs and I’d be distraught, but I’d still prefer we won rather than lost, it’s not much of a barometer.

Sorry mate what I meant is that many fans who say it wouldn't be for them if we were suddenly bank rolled would soon change their mind if we suddenly started winning trophies. I am certain my Chelsea acquaintances would rather be going to champions league finals that playing in the Full members cup.

If it happens to us I reserve the right to give it the big one if we ever win something! Ha

edit: would still be hollow though

It's hilarious isn't it. Saudi Sportswashing Machine fans celebrating the takeover like theve won the lottery. Its fantasy football, cheat code, bail out, invincibility mode, whatever you want to call it. I don't know how id feel if it actually happened to us but there is no merit in winning games that way.

Yes Saudi Sportswashing Machine fans have had it hard, worse than us, as they have had a terrible owner, but theoretically nothing should change because of FFP. However we all know it will change because of the endless oil money and corruption that goes hand in hand.
Have they had it hard?
This idea they are a big club is nonsense - they are just the biggest club in a large geographical region that only has four clubs and fudge all else to do.

Re Ashley. I can't stand the taco, but he did pile £250m into them. That's a fair old chunk.
We are lucky to be in London and have a business model that has growth in it. Maybe their club just can't organically grow anymore.
