What would YOUR priority signing be in the Jan transfer window?

Which of our 5 CMs would you ditch to enable that? Because there's no way we could get 6 in our squad limits. Would you not take up Pahlinha's option? Try and flog Bentancur, despite his new contract and recent signs of recapturing pre-injury form? Or give up on one of the 3 kids?
I'd definitely keep Sarr and Bergvall. For me, Bentancur would be the one missing out. Don't think he's all that good. He's not aggressive and good enough defensively to do the job Palinha does, nor does he he have the passing ability to break the lines. He's not bad, but is not brilliant at anything. A sort of Jack of all trades, master of none, and not quite good enough at everything. Palinha is only short term too, but I'd like to keep him for another year.

A midfielder. Its been on my list for about two seasons. But Sarr is growing into an impressive midfielder and should play. You always feel like Bentancur has more to come. And whilst he has spells where he's pulling the strings, he doesn't seem to run games as you think he could. Will Frank tease this out of him as the side settles? Possibly. But I've been thinking this with each manager. And he hasn't consistently stamped his authority onto games.

Seems like Prem football is becoming land of the giants; playing Saudi Sportswashing Machine with Dan Burn at left back, 2 big centre backs, JoeLinton, Woltemade et al. Everton have a giant at right back. Liverpool have Isak and Ekitike up top etc.

So I don't really want a little guy at left back; Frimpong got bullied. Leif Davies would get outjumped at the many set pieces. We need a tall left back that can also play football, pass and move, sprint etc, not easy. But not a midget that can't defend set pieces, he will be found out.

A left sided Denzil Dumphries
I would say Antonee Robinson is perfect BUT just looked and he'll be 29 next August.

We are clearly light on the left wing. I am really not worried by LB though. We have Udogie! And ample cover in Spence (Davies even VDV with Danso or others at CB). Weird fixation with LB when we hav so many quality options.

He would be
The age thing is a negative
But…. Hg so that fits
Would be very expensive
I was surprised he was that old tbh.
Whether bringing a pricey 29 year old on a 4 year deal in is still a no no? (As a sunk cost with little future recoup) Or if that was just a DL thing...I'm not sure?

The other thing is Destiny is only 22...so a young talented understudy might not be tempted to come given Destiny could be first choice for ages.

Robinson is quality and would be blinding
Not sure how ambitious the new owners are yet so we will see
We still have the HG issue hanging over us

Our system doesn't work with a jobbing RB or CB cutting in. It needs a natural attacking left footer who can provide real width and penetrative. Its why we are so toothless and imbalanced as a team with anyone but Udogie

Most of us don't think we have kits of quality options for LB. Davies is finished as a LB, and Spence while good defensively struggles in possession against teams who close the outside lane due to him only really being able to turn and run inside. Which just compounds the lack of width on the left whenever Udogie is unavailable.

Left back, no idea who and a left winger. Nusa or Semenyo. A progressive CM/DM would be nice, someone like Ederson at Atalanta, who I had on the list 3 years ago.
Getting Nusa would be fantastic, like Ødegaard was he's a banker. But we won't get him, of course. I think Simons would do better suited on the wing than in the middle anyway, so an AM is a priority for me. I don't trust Madisson to last for a full season.

Spence is fantastic cover! What are you all smoking 😂

Failing that VDV could well fill in at LB and be devastating on the break. And Davies is solid defensively.

Spence is a brilliant RB, very close to staking a claim ahead of Porro. But his constant checking back on the left, or trying to slice crosses with the outside of his right foot, really limits us.

Have you been watching the games? He's constantly getting chocked out as he tries to turn back onto his right foot. Opposition defenders have clearly been told not let him run on the outside and It really limits his progression with the ball and forces him to pass backwards. Have a look at his heat in comparison to Udogie's and you can see the where Spence gets stifled just over the halfway line. Whereas Udogie is much better able to bring the ball forward on his natural side.
