Apologies if a similar thread already exist, but I could not find one.

Point of the thread is we can post about players that reached a seemingly high level, and them just disappeared into nothing. The other day I came to think about (don't ask why) Federico Macheda (now 25). He had a blistering start at United, but was soon forgotten. Anyone know if there were any particular reasons for his fall from "stardom"? He's now at Novara in Italian Serie B. Here's his career summarized:

I can see Rashford going a similar way. Rashford was not a kid they held in high regard a United and wasn't being talked about as being the next big thing. He was thrown in out of desperation due to injuries and thrived as an unknown quantity. Macheda for me did pretty much the same thing but in the only one who so far has seen it like that

Alan Smith was just made caretaker manager at Notts County. Think he might be playing for them still.
