Most fans are emotionally attached to their club, rather than any particular team. If your emotional "investment" is so easily turned on and off, then your emotional investment is probably pretty shallow.

Actually, it's a bit concerning. If they care so much about wanting to be better that they are taking extra measures and seeking the answer amongst themselves.

They've had it too easy, for too long. They have a couple of generations of fans who only support them because it was the easy option. Glory hunters are the worst. Supporting a brick team is good for the soul.
