Soldado - 2 - doesn't contribute, doesn't even shoot on sight

Fredricks - 3 - flog him to Swindon sooner rather than later
Eriksen - 3 - stupid beard
Coulthirst - 3 - more the English Adebayor than the English Tevez

AVB - 2 - get rid asap and get Ferguson in

Naughton 5 sloppy for the goal didnt offer much
Capoue 7.5 class
Fryers 6.5 a few shaky moments but generally did pretty well
Rose 6 a little rusty
Lamela 5.5 still dont see what kind of player he is,not clicking nice ball for Soldado though
Townsend 7 his finishing was off but he was awesome going forward always pressing the issue love his mentality
Dembele 7 good finding some form it looks like
Holtby 8.5 brilliant goal and could have added another pulled the strings
Siggurdson 7 good showing had a great ball for Townsend and perfect fk for opener
Soldado 9 hat trick hero very involved more of this please

Fredericks 7.5 thought he had a great cameo looked a threat as did Shaq with less time

Yea Fredericks looked like a walker clone bombing down the wing, in terms of continuity it would be good to have this guy as walkers back up, but think he'd benefit more from a championship loan. Promising!

Yeah - I expect at some point we will want to cash in on Naughton, and by all accounts Smith looked well out of his league in the championship at Derby, so will likely be sent permanently back to League One where he seems to do well.

1882 movement - 1 - bunch of idiots with their silly retro 70s and 80s singing and atmosphere

Gutter Boy -3 (that's minus three)

Friedel 6 - minus a point becuase he should have come off his line to prevent Ewerton goal, otherwise some good stops

Naughton 6 - likewise failed to prevent Ewerton getting to the ball first, otherwise okay with some decent tackling and a couple of excellent passes down the flanks

Capoue 8 - looked composed, a couple of great last ditch tackles and Dawson-esque long diagonal passes that actually found their man

Fryers 7 - competent

Rose 7 - great to see him back, glad he was taken off ht, presumably so he could start Sunday

Lamela 6 - was tempted to call him Lamentable, he kept overdoing it thereby losing possession when it would have been easier to lay the ball off, but he really put himself about a lot and also got in a quality assist for Soldado's second

Holtby 8 - slick goal and loved the way he bossed the game from the middle. Hope he gets a start Sunday ot of it, will be interesting to see if he can do it again at a much higher level

Sigurdsson 7 - another who had a habit of overdoing it rather than laying it off, but again, put himself about, and that fk might just have gone in even without Soldado's flick

Dembele 7 - typical gritty performance though his passing was a bit wayward at times

Townsend 7 - a real curate's egg, good in parts. Great through ball for Holtby's goal

Soldado 7 - what a relief to see him score twice from open play at last, hopefully he too will now start Sunday

Subs

Fredericks 8 - shaky at first but soon got going with some decent defending and overlapping runs down the flank quality crosses and an excellent sortie into the box to win the penalty

Eriksen 5 - great just to see him on the pitch again even if he didn't make much impact

Coulthirst 5 - might have made a bit more of the chance he got towards the end

Totally agree. Didnt seem to stand out much in previous apps, but looked very promising on Thursday, and certainly looks a better back-up for Walker than Naughton does.
But, we certainly need to sort out a back-up/alternative LB. Its good to see Rose back, but Fryers cant be his back-up/alternative, and Verts need to stay as a CB, he clearly doesnt enjoy filling in at LB

Fryers should be groomed to be a centre half, he looks much more natural there.

Naughton, even though isnt the best, should be our left back back up for now (until the window opens) and should always have been, we should nevr have put Vertonghen out there for that amount of games, it's not his best position and he doesn't like it. Naughton showed against Sunderland that he is capable of having a solid game out there.

This.

Priority #1 for Jan window. Another LB. Nuaghton certainly performed well at Sunderland, but I dont fancy him for a long stint at LB if Rose breaks down.
Would love Shaw, but if Soton showed any hint they would let him go for the right price, I'm pretty sure we would get blown out of the water by the sugar daddies.
We possibly need a rabbit out of Baldinis hat

Don't see Shaw as a possibility. Seen fees as high as £20 million mentioned and Chelsea reportedly interested.

Hopefully Rose has got over his injury and now he can make the LB spot his own. He was looking good early season and was excellent at Sunderland last season too. I have faith in him, I love his aggression.

Going by Thursday night's cameo he's already a far better crosser of the ball than Walker. In his 45 minutes he attempted four floated crosses. The first produced a decent penalty shout when it struck a defender on the upper arm before going out for a corner, the second was also deflected for a corner, the third was a pin-sharp floated cross to Soldado of the type he's been totally starved of in previous games. On this occasion the striker's glancing goal-bound header brought out an excellent save from the goalie, whilst Ryan's final cross resulted in a powerful header from Lamela that had to be tipped over the bar.

Fredericks also succeeded in winning the penalty that led to Soldado's hat-trick goal following a surging run into the box. Not a bad return all round for a kid making his senior debut, even if it was against a ropey Russian hotchpotch of a side.
