Following on from other threads about trips away, was just wondering if anyone had any advice on things to do/sights to see in Prague?

Going away for 5 days with 4 lads. We want to make it a half cultural half drinking trip. Staying about 5 minutes away from the Old Town Square. Does anyone have recommendations of what sort of things we should be seeing in the day? And what are the best bars/clubs?

And are the babes up to much 8) ?

Ok, in no order;-

The Astronomical Clock in Old Town Square, but trust me after the first look then on the hours you will be tinkled off if you walk past due to the crowds..
The Castle / St Vitas Cathedral
Vyšehrad Citadel just a little away from the main centre but not that far
Riegrovy Sady and Letna beer gardens, again not far out really - Riegrovy Sady being the nearest
Walk around and take in the sights, not a lot has changed over the years really
Charles Bridge just for the right to say so

As for bar/clubs - too many to choose from, in the center you will pay UK prices (your rich cos you come here :) ) but there are plenty of places to go and have a good time both in the center and a small walk away from.

The women? Depending on what you want there will be a place for you, but I would say if your intending a "lads" visit then try to avoid the likes of Atlas and Darlings - while the main big ones they are rip-off city and there are just as many better places for dances and maybe more - but as said that depends on your whole idea for the experience you want from a club.

Google, as they say, is a good tourist guide for that kind of thing.

5 nights!!??

Christ - you'll need a month to recover!

I'm going for the 3rd time next month on a stag.

We have a 2 day guilded tour from a stag party company, joy! :)

Lovely place to go in winter with your missus though

Lots of little pubs in the old town near the castle are cheaper, £1.50 a pint

Cheers for the advice fella. Really looking forward to it, and I promise we will be well behaved and not like a lot of the Brit 'lager louts' :D

JUst DONT go to Wenseslas Square.......african lads everywhere trying to get you into brick hole pubs charging UK prices

Oh, and DO NOT go to a place called Magic, it's like an Indian restaurant, but is the seediest little strip club I've evr been to! (on second thoughts, you might love it)

Darlings was decent.

Be careful if you get cabs, and watch the street hookers, they'll dip you if they canlt get business. Oh and watch the casino's, lots of dodgy Russian gentlemen carrying hidden firearms. Other than that lovely place! Ha ha

1.50!! good GHod man lol, my local equates to 50p thankfully or near as.

There are a few decent places in the center too that you can get proper sized beer for 35kr which I think is just over a pound these days, but yeah in the main the popular places is just like being in Blighty.

Oooh, try the Tiger Bar in the center too - terrible service manners but a good decent drink and very good traditional food.

Dbl ooh, if you use the trams which is most likely a yes then do buy a ticket - if your caught without you can try the tourist line, but if that does not work then for the sake of say 80kr or whatever it is thesedays for a day pass you will be lighter 700-800kr - just aint worth it.

Cabs = AAA 99% of the time, simple.
Magic, lol, like my front room in size that place.

I went Prague last year as part of a long stag weekend; went to the biggest club in Eastern Europe, you have to pay small tip each drink but the drinks themselves are cheap. There are done food local restaurants that charge little for good food.

The women out and about are hot, and there's a lot going through the town square at night. We didn't go strip joint, not really something which impresses me; especially not whilst in relationship.

I also enjoyed local water park, though I don't think there's any rules for health and safety if the Crazy River is anything to go by! Basically a downhill ride that tosses you in to walls regularly, bruises you and yet you get back up and want to go do it again!

Hot the names of a few cheap places mate? Wanna note them down for next month!!

If you're going to be in Prague on a Wednesday night, you need to go to Mecca. Absolute brick show of a club. Amazing times there. Stay away from Wencesclas square, too expensive.

Some good places: Radost, Mecca, Karlovy Lazne (5 story club, lots of tourists, but worth going to just to experience it).

There are some decent restaurants, but the food sucks for the most part. The farther you get away from the old town square area, the cheaper and better things get. It's too touristey there.

Don't go into the centre much these days as I tend to stay more in the area I live, 4, but here are a few that we use on a normal work night out etc and a couple from memory.

Pivoarsky Dum is not too bad, home brewed beer and some interesting variations on the taste too - have to confess I am not a huge fan of the beer so would only have 2-3.
Jama's
U Medvidku
Stare Csay
James Joyce - Yes an UK based pub which I already said avoid lol, but I have to include as it has the best burger I have tasted here in a long while.
The Kolkovna chain is not too bad, but a little higher than norm prices. Olympic's mixed-grill looked really nice whenever I saw it.
Favourite place on the river to chill, Fish Restaurant
U Bileho lva is off the beaten track into Prague 6 but worth the visit, excellent place for food really is -U-Bileho Lva Only I would say call them or go earlier than normal as they get a lot of reservations.
U Vejvodu Have to mention it as you will no doubt walk past it most days, its decent enough tbh and has some good "beer food" too but the main food I have not always been impressed with.

Cafe Louvre is good too, bang in the Centre near Tesco's, always looked like the place where it would cost an arm and a leg so I never went until last year - looks are deceptive, decent beer and food and the bonus of 5 pool tables too.

This place I love personally, just something about it where you can sit and forget about everything and just drink, does not look much to be fair but the Chef is still the same person from like 5 years ago and imo the food is really good and being a little further away from the centre you see the prices tumble. Spirit Bar The beer steak is delicious :D

You might also like The Pub too, self serve beer on tap plus the usual's from the bar. The Prague 2 one is just up from my work place and is not too bad, food a little hit and miss, not been to the others though. The one in the centre is meant to be better (Prague 1)

And just to sake any traditional English tastes;-
Golden Tikka is quite a good Indian.
Noodle-Bar had great Thai food, but may be shut acc to this link which is a shame
Yam Yam's is supposed to be good but never been, but had their killer soup and fuk me it is hot beyond belief.

There is a lot more if you walk away from the centre, these are just places that I find acceptable, and personally I avoid the English and Irish pub in the centre. While the booze is the same near enough the prices are anything but.

Oh, and Tiger Bar and Golden Tree too - like I said, there are many to choose from

Been refurbished now, or still being I should say, had some quality nights there!
Always liked Sasazu too, speaking of which - here is another place Leeds that you should try too lol I did say there were many...

It's all a bit hazy, but on our way back to the hotel we (my mate and I) were looking for somewhere to take a tinkle. It was 1am and we were walking through what I think was a residential area, some huge apartment buildings, when we came across an open door. Inside were two toilets and a staircase leading to the basement. After necessities were taken care of we decided to see where the stairs went. The whole basement turned out to be a huge night club. Loads of people there as well. Can't remember seeing any signs up on the street, nor were there any people outside. We had a few beers and met some Danish people. I remember a sign saying 'Please smoke grass outside'. Never in a million years would I be able to relocate it.

Only been once on a stag bout 5 years ago good craic indeed you'll have to go out to one of the shooting ranges basically just full of old soviet weaponry
